Paul Ryan’s Christmas Warning: American Companies Will Shut Down Without More Foreign Workers
Breitbart.com ^ | 23 Dec 2015 | Julia Hahn

In a Tuesday morning interview with radio host Bill Bennett, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) defended his omnibus bill’s controversial expansion in the H-2B visa program, which would allow foreign workers to fill blue-collar American jobs, by arguing that if the provision were not included, American companies would be forced to shut their doors.

Bennett pressed Ryan on the details of the H-2B visa expansion, slipped 700-pages into Ryan’s 2,009-page omnibus spending bill—asking Ryan directly, “Do you believe there are not enough Americans to fill these jobs?”

In response, Ryan described the H-2B visa expansion as “a very small, discrete provision.”

Despite the nation’s high levels of unemployment and stagnating wages, Ryan continued on to assert, without offering evidence in support of his claim, that corporations are facing a shortage of labor, which rendered the provision necessary. Ryan said:

The reason that this was passed is because there was some seasonal surge jobs that they can’t find local workers to fill, like the seafood packaging industry in Chesapeake Bay. You have seafood season, you need people to package those things, to can them. In the North, we have the summer tourism industry. What it is is there’s seasonal industries where they can’t find local people to do the jobs: kids are already in college or things like that where you have a surge in workers.

The real solution is to disband the minimum wage.

How will that help? All that means is that they will be able to pay the H-2Bs even less than they do now.

Good luck with that, Paul-no one out here, where people who work in the tourist industry have been mostly out of work since the Obama economy destroyed our winter tourist industry-almost no snowbirds staying here from October to April for the last 4-5 years means no customers for RV parks, B&B’s, guest ranches, restaurants and every other small business where tourists spend money-and that means no work for the American citizens who live here. The last thing we want here is any “foreign workers”-if you want them, keep them in your state...

We shouldn’t expect much from someone that even Joe Biden made look like a fool.

This man is an absolute clown show. Silicon Valley now controls the Chamber of Commerce. They had the resources to buy it out. Regular business couldn’t compete with their dollars. The Chamber of Commerce controls the GOPe and that includes chamber boy paul ryan.

And Obamacare, which makes it impossible now for companies to hire full-time American workers.

No they would not be forced to shut down. They would be forced to pay American workers for the actual value of their services.

For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 1 Tim 5:18

The real solution is to stop all welfare entitlements. We pay $1 Trillion per year for people NOT to work.

And that is the paradox. If many of those industries paid Americans to do the work, their products would be so expensive that they'd lose customers.

It's ironic, when you think about it. It seems like this country has spent the last 150 years trying to figure out how to deal with the economic realities of the Thirteenth Amendment.

So tell me, oh great, wise Paul Ryan, how will Americans pay for the goods and services that these companies offer, if they’re all out of work or earning so little money that they can’t even get by?

That is why the founders were all "protectionists".

Seasonal workers? What is the length of the season, 2 or 3 months? More?

If it’s not for the full year, guess WHO doesn’t have a job and WHO has to go on welfare? And guess WHO gets to support them during the time they are laid off. Is it worth it?

And where are they going to live the rest of the year? Couldn’t some unemployed “migrant” Americans be bused in to live in those places during the season?

Ryan, this is such a BOGUS argument. You disgust me. Ever since you let Biden be an a-hole who walked all over you. You should have said, “If you don’t stop acting like a fool, I’m walking off this stage and won’t come back until you sober up.” You should have “Trumped” him, chicken-boy.

Paul Ryan ... drank the kool-aid. He sees the world through Reid and Pelosi's eyes now. Time to see him primaried out.

Since reading and writing are skill sets, we have to assume that none of them have those skills.

To many American workers frond welfare almost as much of a payday, why work. Cut off most of welfare and you bet the now lazy American will work.
