Washington (CNN)After repeatedly boasting that he has spent very little on his campaign so far, Donald Trump is set to begin spending $2 million a week on ads in early primary and caucus states.

Trump told reporters Tuesday that he will begin his first major paid media campaign, which he has refused to do despite large advertising buys from his Republican rivals and the super PACs supporting them, next month. Trump, who has no authorized outside group independently backing him, appears to be finally paying heed to polls that show the GOP race tightening in Iowa.

Cruz was foolish to expect Obama to uphold his oath to the Constitution. He was a little naive back then, while everyone here knew that BO would exploit and pervert any power or leeway given.

I'm not sure that was it. I think he listened to and believed the leaders of tech companies bitching that they "can't find" the people they need domestically. It takes time to witness the reality from 'the little people' which I suspect his national campaign facilitated. In either case, it was an error he needs specifically to recant.

BTW, I authored an analysis of Trump's and Cruz' published immigration plans here.

Arnold was married to a Kennedy. I would never trust him based on that.

Hence, your analogy fails.

Only slightly because like Trump McClintock was leading in the primary. Cruz rarely breaks double digits yet seems to be the only one who can win. I trust neither of them but Trump has the least to gain by wining so maybe he is trying to do something real before cashing in.

I was a big critic of "The fumble mouthed blowhard that can't speak in complete sentences" when he was talking about entering the race. I felt he could never perform in the debates suggesting that once he got on stage with Carly, who does speak in complete sentences, people would reject the blowhard. I completely missed the reaction to Trump and I have correctly picked every presidential race since Eisenhower.

Cruz is just not likable and is going nowhere in my opinion, even if he wins the primary, even worse he will accomplish nothing if he wins the general.

I have been called to task for suggesting the only way out of this mess is to have a leader just like the one we have who will go around congress, because congress is not at all opposed to what the resident has done. Trump will likely force them to rediscover the power they claim they do not now have.

My prediction now is that Trump will win the Presidency barring any catastrophe either natural or un-natural.

Cruz is very clever, but he shows signs of a potentially catastrophic lack of judgment. Should I see any sing of repentance, I would support him.

Honest enough answer and I concur. Why do we have this shite storm going on?

“Why do we have this shite storm going on? “

To which one or ones are you referring? There are so many and they are often jumbled together. Explaining may help reduce some of the larger squalls coming.

I don’t have a link for every dumb post or article on FR, sorry. There was some article a “pundit” wrote that said Trump would drop out as soon as he started having to spend money, and lots of posts from Cruzers agreeing. It’s a stupid meme, that’s all.

That's a stretch when you attribute the outcome to my doings.

I trust neither of them but Trump has the least to gain by wining so maybe he is trying to do something real before cashing in.

Oh please. People at that level are still ambitious. It's all about winning the game.

Cruz is just not likable and is going nowhere in my opinion, even if he wins the primary, even worse he will accomplish nothing if he wins the general.

That is a serious point, an observation that I shared until I started to get his sense of humor.

I have been called to task for suggesting the only way out of this mess is to have a leader just like the one we have who will go around congress, because congress is not at all opposed to what the resident has done. Trump will likely force them to rediscover the power they claim they do not now have.

I think that's a stretch too. Ever since the collapse of the Brettonwoods agreement, Congress has been all about throwing its powers to the President.

My prediction now is that Trump will win the Presidency barring any catastrophe either natural or un-natural.

I would add "planned."

I imagine you are more right than wrong but we don't need all the bitterness I see on the Trump/Cruz threads, not you personally but in general. All this cr@p we spout is opposition research for the enemy no matter who the winner of the primary is and we should tone it down a little or at least charge for it.

I would make tiny buys in Iowa and put the other 5.9 million into the other two states.

“Oh please. People at [Trump’s] level are still ambitious. It’s all about winning the game.”

Trump is losing money in the Middle East. No US presidential candidate in the US had ever been more financially motivated to be nice and suck up to Islamics than Trump. So we aren’t talking MONEY game here.

Secondly, there was no way Trump could cunningly anticipate this wild support. He sailed into uncharted waters politically. If this is about a money game, he’d be ready for the rubber room.

1. I’m willing to seriously consider you — is immigration Trump’s weak spot?

Will go through your mega-post and get back with you later on that other thread you mentioned:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3363071/posts?page=83#83

In the meantime ...

Trump’s brother mentioned letting deported illeals return for legal processing. [I heard it on Rush — fuzzy memory alert.] So he might be sending up a trial balloon. Not ideal, and if Cruz were to ask Trump about it, he needs to either make a promise or he needs to defend a ‘revolving door’ plan for unskilled labor.

TWO OTHER POINTS ...

1. Kelo: I think Trump wears two hats — one is his businessman hat. He builds things, and Kelo is a powerful weapon for builders. But his favorite supreme court justices are all anti-Kelo. So it’s a question of trust. I just don’t see him pulling off a ‘Johnny English’ style building project in the US.

2. “... confiscating the property of countries we ‘liberate’.” That’s my kind of vaccilation! Trump was a rash to put something out that forced him to back down, but the idea CLEARLY puts America first! That’s what we need.
