Washington (CNN)After repeatedly boasting that he has spent very little on his campaign so far, Donald Trump is set to begin spending $2 million a week on ads in early primary and caucus states.

Trump told reporters Tuesday that he will begin his first major paid media campaign, which he has refused to do despite large advertising buys from his Republican rivals and the super PACs supporting them, next month. Trump, who has no authorized outside group independently backing him, appears to be finally paying heed to polls that show the GOP race tightening in Iowa.

Thanks for the link, Onyx.
You are so blessed to be able to get to see him! We’ll be thinking of you tomorrow night.

I really wish all the Freepers would stop biting at each other with so many nasty comments to other Freepers. Rove and his GOPe love it when the conservatives split and tear each other up. I hope both Trump and Cruz supporters can unite no matter which one wins. We need to be stronger than the evil opposition!

God Bless you and stay safe tomorrow.....and don’t forget your camera : )

Deja vu much? This all seems so much like our fight warning CA Freepers against abandoning McClintock for Schwarzenegger out of fear that Bustamonte might win. The lack of courage in the conservative camp seems almost definitional at this point. “Don’t risk a real conservative even though Reagan won — that was simpler times.”

The difference this time from 2003 is so much worse in that Arnold lied about his conservatism while Trump is actually up front about his determined use of the powers that Obama has established in the Presidency. People who dismiss his statements in that regard are useless in any fight to reclaim the constitution. So they are NOT constitutionalists even if they are conservatives, just ones of less than sterling principles.

I’ve spoken in meatspace with a number of conservatives, and what they really crave is a counter-pendulum swing by a contrarian dictator who they believe will wreak revenge on the Left for all the damage they’ve done. If he should win the WH, the evidence is that he’ll make McConnell’s betrayal look lame by comparison.

I fear that you are battling either with a new cadre of “FairOpinion” et alii or with true believers who seem never to have heard of the concept of reverse psychology (a group that Lenin found to be very useful). I am not sure which is worse. I commend your efforts. It seems daunting. Should Iowa pay off for Cruz, there is some hope. What worries me about Cruz is this: Is his decency nearly as good as is his command of issues and ability to speak to them?

Thank you so much and I concur! Not to worry - FR will unite behind TRUMP or CRUZ! I will for sure and you, too!
FR will have a LIVE thread for TRUMP’s Rally!
Off to bed now for me ... I have a 3 - 4 hour drive tomorrow, obeying speed limits.
:)

You’re fooling yourself if you think Trump will bankroll himself in the general...

He will take donor money quicker than he moves to the left as he “conservative” positions will be deemed to be unelectable by his advisors...

Don’t believe it? Look how quickly he ran to the right to win our primary? Where did he come from exactly? Oh that’s right, from the position of a leftist, commit supporting crony capitalist.

The man has pulled the wool over your eyes, hopefully he loses the primary so we don’t have to see him prove who he really is...

“Last night on Fox was hilarious - they spent the whole night saying Trump would join them at 11:45. Then he shows up for 15 minutes and gets to do the countdown. He got hours of free publicity and got to do the main attraction.”

Yeah, we accidentally tuned in after flipping from some other network that had that truly awful singer on, and were (pleasantly) shocked to see all the major, free, positive New Year’s Eve time Trump was getting on Fox. Kimberly Guilfoyle was practically orgasmic.

“He really has milked the hell out of free media!!!”

Yeah, ya just gotta love it; Trump has turned the tables on the corrupt media and is using it against itself and for himself.

“hAs anyone ever bought an election before?”

Oh, absolutely. Every one of them has been bought and paid for. By someone else. But the unique thing about Trump is that he’s buying it all by himself, so he owns the whole shebang all by himself and owes no other campaign “contributor” a damn thing!

Right until he secures the nomination... Then he will bend to the will of the “donor class”.

He has to. The man only has $350 million in cash. He cannot bankroll his way to the Whitehouse...

I was viewing your posts. You have never said a single positive thing about Trump and base just about every argument on Trump will take big donor money but Cruz only takes small donations. It’s like a repetitive, broken record and you have a serious case of TDS. You and a few others like you are turning me and others away from Cruz. You are not team players. I look forward to your crushing defeat and implosion as well. Good riddens! I’m sick of the lectures about how conservative you Cruz types are. It’s creepy!

To be fair, as I recall Trump said that he would finance his primary campaigns with his own funds (although he IS accepting donations and has a site for that purpose and will use that money also).

However, in the general election he plans to use RNC and other funds to finance the campaign. In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with that - particularly considering the vast sums that the Hildabeast plans to have for the general election. Trump is not stupid...he will not unilaterally disarm.

I like your tag line. The Witchbeast is being financed by Satin himself. She’s got tainted money ready to destroy what is left of America. We need big guns!
