...[Trump's] rallies are terrible! He stands up there and rambles for over an hour and offers not specific details on his plans.

Not everyone appreciates Trump's speeches.  I understand that.  As a Trump supporter who has watched several of his speeches on-line, let me take a crack at explaining why I still watch them.

It's like a sports team.  Once you follow a team for a while, be it the Boston Red Sox, the Dallas Cowboys -- whoever it is, you get hooked.

However before you reach the point of committing to a team, you weigh the quality of what's there.

And if it's a president you're choosing, you first look at the usual stuff: the policies he or she supports, the organization around the campaign, the debates, and other political factors.

Now with Trump, I think there's an indefinable leadership he radiates that people want to be near.  They want to have an experience with him, because he's become a colleague, almost family now.  And we also love the "spirit in the room" -- being with other Americans and showing our pride in the man and our country.

Trump does that for us.  So when we watch him on-line or attend a rally, his fans almost know 60% of what he's going to say!  And his detailed positions are not that important because we can always read his book, Crippled America, or go to his website to read all that.

So as a Trump supporter, I look at the whole package: his success in life, his strength of character, his refusal to back down, his utter confidence in himself, his love of his country, the videos I've seen, the hotels and golf courses he's built, even the maturity of his children.  All of that is in my head -- or rather, all of that is in my heart.

So no matter what he may say at any particular rally, the important thing is my love for the man and what I feel he can do to heal my beloved country.

You give points in favor of Trump.

But let me ask you something. Don’t take it the wrong way, but why do you trust Donald Trump?

I don’t question your judgement. I ask because I do have my moments where I can hear Trump or read about him and start to think he may be just what this country needs....but then I go back and look at him and his political past, and I go “I can’t trust him.”

To make my point, these are the things that bother me about him:

1) His leaving the Republican party and changing to Democrat. Leaving the Republicans and becoming independent because the part leadership sucks is one thing, but changing to Democrat in post 9/11 America?

2) His past associations with the Clintons. He contributed to Hillarys’ Senate campaigns. They have been guests at his parties. They were guests at his wedding. He is on record praising Bill Clinton as President. If elected, will he be the real Clinton II?

3) He has in the past has favored gay marriage.

4) He is on record as being pro choice.

5) Based on items 3 and 4, what kind of Supreme Court justice would he appoint?

6) His ego. It’s reknown. How can I know this whole thing isn’t just a sham to fuel his ego?

Just curious how one can past such questions and doubts? I admit, I have my moments when I want to jump on the bandwagon. But I always go back to those questions.

All that being said, I don’t believe anyone running as Republican can win a national election these days. To win a Republican candidate needs to do exactly what the 2004 map was just to barely win. Since then Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and Florida have become rock solid blue states. Hillary’s character does not matter. Everyone know she is corrupt. But a majority of voters are Democrats on the issues now. They will vote for the Democrat over any Republican,

Trump, if he is the nominee, very well may draw in a few Democrats who can’t get past Hillary being a crook. But he also will have to deal with 20% of Republicans who say the will either not vote or go Libertarian if Trump is nominated. That’s what will sink him. I just don’t see a path to victory for Trump.

Cruz, while I think he would lose as well, may have a slight outside shot. If he can draw in some evangelical voters in Virgina that passed on voting in 2008 and 2012 he could slightly make VA red one last time. Then if he could get a big Cuban voter turnout it could help tip Florida. Then if he could maybe win back some conservative voters in NV, CO and OH that sat out 2008 and 2012 maybe those states. It’s a reach, but slightly possible.
