U.S. General: Military Will Face ‘Great Pressure’ to Lower Standards for Women in Combat Roles

Current and future U.S. military leaders will face immense pressure to lower standards in the services in order to allow more women to serve in combat roles, a top general recently warned.

Gen. John Kelly, commander of U.S. Southern Command and a Marine for 45 years, told reporters on Friday that his "greatest fear" is the easing of the military's stringent training standards as a result of the new policy of integrating women into combat and infantry posts.

I'm all for civilian control of the military, but I'm weary of generals and admirals holding their tongues while enjoying their perks, and getting their asses kissed daily by subordinates.

...and we spend how many tens of billions of dollars on equipment and training to ensure our fighting forces are the most effective we can make them so that they have the highest probability of success and survival...only to arbitrarily reduce that effectiveness to make a political/social statement? Such a decision will cost lives not simply treasure and resources.

That is the idea. Lower the standards and make them a less effective fighting force.

It is simply more destructive psy-ops. Making something easier to achieve lowers the value of the effort and the value of the winning. If you have two arms how proud are you of being able to put on a shirt (now that you know how)? If you have no arms how proud and valuable is getting that shirt on?

The Marines are the most proud out of boot because it is beyond what they could have imagined they could achieve. (prayers for the recruits going through the crucible today and tomorrow and for their moms) The Army would love to have that attitude built into their soldiers but they can’t because they have to make it easier for the soldiers to graduate.

Now, when does this attitude pulverizing begin? When EVERYONE GETS A TROPHY IN CHILD SPORTS. Yeah, I’m yelling like a DI. My son was used it before he went to boot. I’m also twitching as I type.

I studied psych and it is proven. Those who have to work harder are more passionate about that victory. So make it easier, keep the troops weak in body, mind, and heart.

There will not be famous quotes like, “Retreat hell! We just got here,” [2/5 Semper Fi] or anymore Chesty Puller quotes...

Nonsense! A 37 year old mother just breezed through Army Ranger School, and she met the exact same standards as the men! As a matter of fact she exceeded many of the standards, and did way better than the 20 year old men she was training with! /sarc

The ones thumping the tub for women in combat arms roles are female officers who see these command slots as tickets to a fast track promotion to stars on their collars. Notice that female enlisted do NOT want this.

Sorry to do that to you. I can remember having the occasional crusty old 1SG or SGM that would attend Ranger School in their late 30’s and it was always considered extraordinary if they survived the experience. Now we are supposed to believe that a 37yo reservist with no prior infantry background just breezed on through.

This will stand only until the next big war—If you think that there will be no big war—you are a fool. The UN will solve all international problems so WW III will never happen—you are a fool. Socrates, the wisest of the Ancient Greeks said “Only the Dead have seen the end of war.” Now, I am not saying that little Police actions, beating up on 3rd world states will not happen —but the big war will be one where we could lose and be occupied by a foreign power. A war that could see the USA cut up and no longer a world power. This can—and could happen. In this war—we may well lose. It will be a collection of states vs us. After the war-—Russia gets Alaska back, China gets Guam and “The Kingdom of Hawaii” America cut east and west, Mexico gets south Texas, Cuba gets south Florida and the Virgin Islands.
