This event irritated the dickens out of me. Anytime I see American servicemen humiliated with their hands behind their heads, it angers me.
From reading replies from people on FR who should know what they are talking about, the official American and/or Iranian stories did not happen.
We did not drift into their waters. We did not get lost. Either the Iranians surprised them with overwhelming power or they were told to surrender. There is a third option. We just surrendered to a weaker force. I pray that number 3 is not correct.
Despite the fact that the Iranians humiliated the sailors, the did release them quickly and unharmed with most of their gear. That is not typical Iranian actions.
Since I don’t think these small fast boats could have been snuck up on by large Iranian ships, I think the only options left are the Americans had orders to not fight. I really don’t think the small Iranian boats either could have eased up on them and the Americans surrender unless they were ordered to do so by their superiors.
I guess that some idiot Iranian decided to capture them just because he was an idiotic Iranian. The Mullahs knowing Obamapal was going to give them billions of dollars, ordered the idiot Iranian to just let them go and not mistreat them any more.

The two US boats, purchased from Sweden, are said to have a top speed of **39 knots**, so....I’m dubious that Iran has many vessels that could catch them, or ANY vessel.
But then also I’m dubious that there any break-down, either.
If we were dealing with a different and patriotic POTUS, it could almost seem (like the big UAV they “captured” a few years ago) like this could be an elaborate setup to give them something that gives us a pathway deep inside their government. Not much chance of that with the halfrican.
If the former naval officer is accurate, then it it would be a setup. How he would know the SIM chips were pulled is unclear.
