UM, sim cards could contain Evidence that the Iranians spoofed the GPS signal and led the two boats astray, like they did to that Sentinel Drone in 2011
There was a former navy Captain on the John Batchelor show several nights ago who said the US boats would normally be commanded by a senior enlisted person, not an officer. Initial reports from the Pentagon via Barbara Starr on CNN said the navy had lost contact with the boats and was worried about personnel possibly being in the water.

I think it more likely the Iranians closed down on the two boats than vice-versa... and were jamming radio communications. No doubt they’d love to grab this stuff and occam’s razor would apply on this simple ‘we dropped the ball and Iran got lucky’ story. But, I’m just wondering ‘what if’ the SIM cards could have been removed BEFORE they set out as ‘insurance’ by a saboteur to cover what Iranian jamming may not be able to jam? That this ‘blooper’ happened the day of the SOTU is just too rich... like IRGC won the lottery.
Or is someone just leaking to try to provide an explanation for those who know the boats gave sat phones, to explain away why they weren’t used, or just because they’re torqued off by the humiliation of the USN by this Admin? Up to now everyone’s been wondering how neither boat could get out any more messages after the one bleat on the radio.
Or, maybe the reason this SIM card tale has been leaked is because they were removed afterwards on orders of the WH to remove evidence that they were ordered to stop and surrender - in the event an inquiry is ever made? I’m too cheap to buy a good phone, don’t know much about the SIM
in mine, much less a sat phone.

That’s the best explanation so far. The Iranians are a strange bunch, willing to give the world - esp. the US black eye after black eye in every weasely way, yet always wanting to appear to be going by international law, making a point to play the put-upon victim . Desperation for foreign cash but unable to kick the habit? Or they just know what’s important to their progressive left propagandists?

As these boats approached, they couldn’t think of what to do with two encrypted phones.
There in the middle of the water, far from land. with a small phone or removable sim card. And the solution didn’t occur to these idiots.
