Bob Dole: A Ted Cruz nomination would be 'cataclysmic' for the GOP

Former Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole is warning GOP voters that putting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at the top of the ticket would be "cataclysmic" for the party.

"If he's the nominee, we're going to have wholesale losses in Congress and state offices and governors and legislatures," Dole, who served in the House and Senate for 35 years and won the Iowa caucuses twice, told the New York Times.

"I don't know how often you've heard him say the word 'Republican' - not very often," Dole said, adding, "I don't know how he's going to deal with Congress. Nobody likes him."

Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for the Cruz campaign, called Dole's comments part of the "same flawed narrative the Washington establishment has unsuccessfully pushed for years."

The 92-year old former Kansas senator, who was defeated by Bill Clinton in the 1996 presidential election, said he questions Cruz's allegiance to the Republican Party and his ability to work with Congress.

I was always a Cruz supporter but this just set my support in stone. If Dole doesn’t like him it could not be more favorable for Cruz to me.

"I don't know how often you've heard him say the word 'Republican' - not very often," Dole said

Someone should ask Dole how long Trump has been a Republican.

I’d take advice on winning Presidential elections from someone with a better track record than Dole.

No Bob. His elevation to President would mark the onset of a counter-cataclysm.

Dole said he’d prefer anyone to Cruz — including Donald Trump.
*******************************************************************
I guess Madonna, Bernie Sanders & Hillary would fit under the RINOS’ definition of “preferring anyone to Cruz”.

Oh, how they DESPISE their base.

It seems like all the old losers who really liked the way the Clintons were handling things, even to the point of making sure Bill Clinton did not get convicted for high crimes and misdemeanors, are now telling us who we should vote for.

Yeah. No.

I agree, Dole’s negative comments are sort of like an endorsement to me.

I'm really facing a quandary today:

Whoopi Goldberg says she'll leave the country if Trump is elected President.

Bob Dole says a Ted Cruz nomination would be cataclysmic for the GOP.

Both are compelling reasons for voting for Trump or Cruz. For now, I'll stick with Cruz as #1, and Trump as #2.

There is no #3.

Just remember, Bobdole lectured his supporters during his debate, “Bill Clinton is our opponent, NOT our enemy.”
Ask Juanita, Bobdole.

Anyone notice how the Establishment has suddenly swung around in support of the Populist wing, against the Conservatives?

Guess they realized Jeb wasn’t viable after all. But the hatred of conservatism they reflect is scary.

He is a 35 year career GOPe republican.
