Dangerous Winter Storm Jonas to Bring Crippling Snowstorm, Major Ice Threat; Blizzard Warnings
The Weather Channel ^ | January 21, 2016 | Weather.com

Posted on 01/21/2016 9:56:06 AM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Blizzard warnings have been issued for the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas, and blizzard watches extend northward to the Philadelphia and New York City metro areas as Winter Storm Jonas begins to take shape. The storm is expected to deliver heavy snowfall to at least 15 states, and heavy ice accumulations, strong winds and coastal flooding will add to the storm's impact as it carves a path from the nation's heartland through the South and onward to the East Coast now through Sunday.

As of Thursday morning, just over 73 million people – or roughly one in every four Americans – were covered by either a blizzard watch, blizzard warning, winter storm watch, winter storm warning, winter weather advisory, or freezing rain advisory from southeast Nebraska to the Carolinas to the New York City area.

I thought you proved your own.

I asked for clarification, not a snide comment

This is an EXCELLENT opportunity for the prepper community to reach out and evangelize having enough food and water to cover 7 days or so.

Ps. I didn’t understand your grammar or intent because the wording didn’t make sense to me. It sounded snarky but may not have been at all. Or maybe you were giving an example. I have no idea but apparently you decided to take my post in the worst way with out explaining yours

It hit the whole east coast.

1993 Storm of the Century

They look eerily similar.

No worries, Kart. You're much appreciated in the IYAS9YAS household.

As an aside, I finally broke down and bought a fancy ergonomic snow shovel. I've been using a regular scoop shovel for years. That snow shovel really works. Haven't had so much as a dusting since I bought it!

Yeah, and our a-hole governor shut down interstates and the Kaiser Wilhelm shut down the subway. For a damn snow storm???

Because blizzard conditions are nothing to mess with despite your poo-pooing it.

People where the worst of this storm is going to hit have neither the equipment nor experience to justify being out in it. Their vehicles have useless all season radials and they don't know how to drive in the snow, so make themselves a hazard to themselves and others. And the worst ones are the ones who think that because they have a 4 wheel drive SUV, they're invincible. I've passed enough of those idiots who blasted by me at unsafe speeds, with their SUV facing in the wrong direction off the road a few miles down the road.

So when they're in a ditch, someone has to go out and rescue them to keep them from dying of hypothermia or CO poisoning. And that takes time and expense from real emergencies.

Not to mention that when their car is stranded on the interstate, stuck in a snowdrift, which WILL happen with winds like this storm has, then they have to dig the cars out, one at a time before they can plow. It's FAR easier to plow and clear the highways without having to deal with the idiots who have no business going out in the weather in the first place.

You're from NY. You ought to know what happens around here when the first snowfall of the season hits.

All the drivers are like brain dead idiots who never saw snow before and forgot how to drvin in it since last March (or April, or May).
