Blizzard warnings have been issued for the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas, and blizzard watches extend northward to the Philadelphia and New York City metro areas as Winter Storm Jonas begins to take shape. The storm is expected to deliver heavy snowfall to at least 15 states, and heavy ice accumulations, strong winds and coastal flooding will add to the storm's impact as it carves a path from the nation's heartland through the South and onward to the East Coast now through Sunday.
As of Thursday morning, just over 73 million people â or roughly one in every four Americans â were covered by either a blizzard watch, blizzard warning, winter storm watch, winter storm warning, winter weather advisory, or freezing rain advisory from southeast Nebraska to the Carolinas to the New York City area.

Yup. They’ve for sure drunk the kool-aid. I got so tired of their pushing the AGW crap that I don’t even go there to look for the updated radar.

We went through this same routine almost exactly a year ago and it was a big dud. NYC and Connecticut was completely shut down and we ended up with only a few inches in NYC proper.
It would be a major indictment of weather forecasting models if DC is not hit very hard by this storm. This isn't one or two models showing a direct hit: it is pretty much all of them, on every single run. If anything, they are underplaying the threat here. They all seem to be assuming low ratios, and if higher ratios are used, the models are predicting record setting amounts of snow (coupled with sustained winds >40mph). Even the few outliers have shown over a foot (and subsequent runs went back to the 2+ foot amounts).
The infrastructure in and around the metropolitan area simply cannot deal with what appears, at this point, likely -- 2-3 feet over much of the area. This may not be a national disaster or anything. But it is going to be a major pita for those who live around DC.

The way previous ‘scare’ storms failed to live up to the hype they’ll get maybe an inch or two and be all melted by 2pm. But then ....

You may be right. Even if it hits DC area as forecast, it will be of historic proportions. The upside is that the timing of the storm is such that most people will be home for the weekend, so that crews can hopefully keep the roads clear.
Good luck down there. I'm glad most of it appears to be missing my area (NYC/CT).

I lived in Boston once, and remember a storm that was over twenty inches several decades ago.
The sad part is the alarmists will say This has never happened before, and see, see....we were right about the climate!!! And will be dutifully agreed with by the media......

“The winter overall was a nasty one but the storm that was hyped the most fell flat.”
Yep and my company fell for the hype hook, line and sinker. It was nice having 3 days off for no reason at all, but you just knew it would make them reluctant to close again, which is of course what happened.

I went to the store last night to get some extra bottled water. Amazingly enough, there was only partial depletion. The bread shelves, on the other hand, were almost empty.

I was visiting Grandma in Newburyport one time and
she took in some truckers stranded in front of the hose.
It drifted up to the second floor window.
Called it a Nor’easter I believe.
Was glad to get back to Tn.
Beautiful country in the summer, but too many dam lefties.
