The chatter continues this morning about Donald Trump’s call for raising taxes on the rich.

Trump was targeting a group of wealthy investors who he says pays no tax. This is not new, and the headline is false.

Trump is focusing on carried interest and I believe this has to do with hedge funds. Not my area of specialization, but this doesn’t seem new to me. And it seems very unlikely that Trump is going to wallop somebody who owns a chain of dry cleaners — “Hey, he’s rich!! Let’s get ‘em!!”. That isn’t what Trump is thinking at all.
The rich mainly are democrats and are happy to see the middle class failing. I used to care that taxing the rich might hurt the economy in general, but they seem to want to get it good and hard.
No. And Trump’s tax plan is absolutely Reaganesque. Cuts all rates, even for the wealthy.

No, it really isn’t. Reagan cut taxes across the board. Trump wants to raise them, at least on the upper brackets. That’s 0bamaesque.

Yes, a plan written by a political campaign, but a in person interview reveals something else.

Overall, his plan is good. Frankly after the last two rounds, I personally am tired of the candidate getting raked over the coals protecting ultra rich tax rates at the expense of the rest of us. No one seems to be able to defend the lower taxes and most these folks at the top end lean left. Screw ‘em. Not with Bernie type tax rates, but if theres’ go up a few percentage points, I am not losing any sleep on it at the expense of middle class getting screwed over by Democrats.
No problem at all with getting rid of tax breaks for freaking hedge fund operators, who predicate “profit” from the reality of the “shorted” market caused by their pals in government tightening the regulatory screws through fiat agency “rules” run amok. The hell with the hedgers— how about some growth, real job producing growth.
If, somehow this turns also on “taxing the rich” just like the Silicon Valley “rich” love to be taxed— not having any of that liberal fantasia.
