I see it differently. It allows for an (overwhelmingly logical) secular argument for life. If unborn children are defined as persons legislatively, they pick up all the rights and duties of any other citizen. Most notably the right to DUE PROCESS. And also the right to representation.
This is not the first rodeo for this idea, and what I mention is the thing that proved fatal for it. It protected them so much that we were agonizing over zygotes.
There, at the least, must be an acts of God exception. And it has to mean something too. No wrongful death lawsuits on the behalf of unimplanted zygotes, thank you very much!
