Your point is well taken and I'm in full agreement. I don't trust Trump. There was a time when he supported: abortion, gay marriage, and the Clintons. He now says he's changed his views. He's an arrogant man.

Based on Isaiah 9:10, - "The bricks have fallen, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will plant cedars in their place," the northern 10 Tribes of Israel refused to repent after they were struck by the Assyrians - which was a warning from the Lord. Instead of listening to the alarm, of turning back, and humbling themselves in repentance, they boasted of their resolve, that they would rebuild stronger and better than before. They ignored the warning and rejected the call to return. They defied it. Sadly, their defiance led to the nation's total destruction years later. The ancient prophecy forms the key to the nine harbingers of judgment, which are given to a nation in danger of judgment - each of which have reappeared on American soil - marking America as the nation in danger of judgment.
Trump's mantra' "Make America Great Again", could be interpreted as another attempt by a politician to "fix America" without God's blessing. We have made abortion and desecration of marriage the law of the land. Strong will and arrogance will not fix our problems. WWII Germany is a testament to this fact. We've in trouble and I don't believe Trump understands why we're in trouble.
Ted Cruz is not perfect but I believe he understands that we need to receive God's blessing to fix this nation.

I really loved Cruz for a long time. But I don’t trust him any more. I don’t know anyone who flaunts his religion like that who isn’t trying to hide something or worse. They’re either phony and trying to manipulate, or they have extreme narcissism and spiritual pride.
And when it came time to walk his talk on the most important issues in this election, Cruz blinked.
I want to like and trust Cruz. I can’t.
