Huckabee Backers Slams Ted Cruz As A “Phony” Christian In New Iowa TV Ad
BuzzFeed ^ | January 26, 2016 | McKay Coppins

Posted on 01/27/2016 8:18:15 AM PST by C19fan

Supporters of Mike Huckabee are launching a TV attack ad here in the final days of the race that casts Ted Cruz as a charlatan feigning intense Christian devotion to win votes. The ad, which is being aired by the pro-Huckabee super PAC Pursuing America’s Greatness and was previewed for BuzzFeed News, depicts two women chatting prior to a group Bible study about the upcoming Iowa caucuses. The women are shown discussing recent leaked comments in which Cruz privately told donors he wouldn’t prioritize fighting same-sex marriage if he was elected; they also talk about Cruz’s reportedly meager record of charitable giving.

Go away Huckster Elmer Gantry. All this who is "Christian" is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel. To paraphrase I believe British ex-PM McMillian, if you are looking for inspiration go to a pastor not a politician.

After that fat goober Huckster loses he will go back to his show on FNC and he wants Trump as a candidate to talk about.

So taking out Cruz makes sense.

That’s a cheap shot and a low blow. “Pastor” Huckabee should know better.

It shows that the Huckster will try any trick, no matter how immoral, to win votes. Desperation, anyone?

Hear hear!

Please Huckster take Kaisich as your VP and have the pompous ass tour. They are both despised by liberty minded believers.

And I am conservative, Christian, fundamental, right wing, from one their home state’s and I despise them and their so called Christian do-goodism. I especially despise Kaisich and his “pearly gates” defense of Obama’s Medicare expansion. It borders on irrational hatred.

Is that one of those stupid-looking commercials where a couple is “conversing naturally” in a way that sounds about as “natural” as the Coneheads saying “We are from France”?

Is it true that "Cruz privately told donors he wouldn't prioritize fighting same-sex marriage if he was elected?

I see a lot of attacks on the messenger, but no one is reputing the message. One would think that Cruz learned his lesson about saying things in private that he would not say in public when he privately attacked Trump on his temperament and judgement and unfitness to have his finger on the "button"

Because of course someone who helps shysters steal hard earned money from sick people by shilling bogus cures on TV is qualified to attack someone else’s Christianity!

I have a problem when candidates start attacking an opponent’s faith, and talk about who’s “a real Christian” and who isn’t. Just who gets to decide that? I would much rather see them discuss differences in their records and their stands on the issues.

What is Huckabee’s problem? He afraid Cruz will take the last of his few supporters?

Never thought Huckabee was in it to win it, as it were - but to give voice to the faith based portion of the party. I have always found him amiable and honest. It is quite possible that Huckabee finds Cruz to be a hypocrite.

This is an incredibly cheap shot, and is what serious theologians would recognize as rank hypocrisy. Certainly anyone running for President against Cruz would be aware of the context of Senator Cruz's comment on "same sex marriage." He was not denying it was an oxymoron, as well as an abomination. He was simply acknowledging that under our Constitution, the legal questions involved are State issues--under the Police Powers reserved or retained by the States. It is not really a Federal legal issue.

Thus the campaign treatment in this manner, is clearly a case of bearing false witness. I am no theologian, but one has to be almost brain dead, not to see this as what theologians understand as hypocrisy in the Biblical sense.

“Huckabee super PAC: ‘Pursuing America’s Greatness’”

Gee, that sounds like ol’ Huck is on the same page as that giant of the faith who wants to make America great again. You know, the guy who is a Presbyterian and Norman Vincent Peale was his pastor. Otherwise, why wouldn’t ol’ Huck be going after THAT guy?

Yes, it is true. Want the context? Cruz said he wouldn’t spend his time AS PRESIDENT fighting battles in which the president can affect very little change. The Congress and the courts control this one, not the president.
