Natural Born Citizenship is citizenship derived by virtue of the circumstances of birth either Jus Soli (by the soil) or Jus Sanguinis (by the blood). It is citizenship not made by judicial ruling or Congressional act but in existence at the moment of birth. No naturalization required.
Ted Cruz has never been through a naturalization process in the US. He was a natural born citizen at birth (Jus Sanguinis) and eligible to be a US Senator (citizenship requirement), exercising all rights of citizenship without requiring naturalization.
There is a difference.
Not true. Naturalization is through applying for Consular Report of Birth Abroad.
Cruz’s mother had to have him naturalized. If not, I doubt his Canadian birth certificated alone would be accepted by the state department to get a passport.
BTW, has anyone ever seen his CRBA?
“He was a natural born citizen at birth”
Of Canada.
As far as we are told, by the Crus campaign, mother Cruz applied at the US consulate for Teds citizenship. If no one applied on his behalf, he would have the option to do it himself after the age of 18. Otherwise he would officially hold sole Canadian citizenship. Here is NOT what the parent of a natural born citizen would need to do to receive a CRBA for the foreign born child:

And Cruz has not released a copy of his CRBA.
