Trump could throw down a few million bucks for the Wounded Warriors and score more support than if he spent it on ads.

You are not the first person to say this. And I do believe it is correct.
He should do both, host a benefit AND give $10 million. (Nice round number.)

Excellent suggestion: Trump could throw down a few million bucks for the Wounded Warriors and score more support than if he spent it on ads.

He DOES give to that worthy cause, but NEVER makes a big deal about his works of charity.

Trump could throw down a few million bucks for the Wounded Warriors and score more support than if he spent it on ads. Trump would not do that. He is notoriously stingy in giving to charities, and there is no public record of him or his foundation ever giving to help wounded veterans. This is a publicity stunt. If the vets get some money out of it, great, but don't think for a moment that this is really about helping veterans.

Admission to Trumps events has been free.
He probably has planned exactly what you suggest. Throw a million into the donation pot to make sure the event is a success.
