In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."
"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

It’s fun watching the Trumpsters twist themselves into knots trying to explain why their socialist is different than the socialist that has occupied the White House for the last 7 years.
Not so much anymore. They are being bought by for profits when the local government gives the ok.
If I understood Trump right from his prior speeches. He wants people who can afford it to have insurance. But he wants a plan in place that will take care of indigents and people who didn’t get insurance.
To lower the cost of insurance, he plans on increased insurance competition.
To lower the cost of indigent care, he wants to negotiate rates with providers and eliminate a lot of people in the middle.
I’ve always thought that mandating indigent care but making providers recover the cost by raising rates to the other sick people was both unfair to the other sick people AND an unconstitutional taking.
In this case, government will pay for the indigent care, but they are already paying for a lot of it through Medicaid, free or subsidized health clinics, etc.
I don’t know how he plans to incent people to get care, instead of relying on the indigent care. My guess is a tax credit for health insurance costs.
I also don’t know how much government directly paying for indigent care will cost or how you implement competition between providers to bring the cost back down from their current levels. But I’m sure it can be done.

If Trump is president he’ll be a different person. He could do anything. He could be the most politically correct person you have ever seen.

We are discussing Trump’s appearance on TV this morning. He said he is against single payer. This columnist is intentionally deceptive in his use of quotations interspersed with his observation, which is false.
“’I’m going to take care of that person,’ Trump said.”
Meaning Trump will pay the tab out of his own billions, or does he mean by “I’m”, WE, the taxpayers?
The problem is that such a policy will guarantee that you will have even more indigents.
You have a funny of describing the truth. You may not like the truth, but it is true. You may like Trump, and that is your prerogative, but he simply is not a conservative. Facts are facts. You can have your own opinion, but you can't have your own facts.
So besides those who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, who else does not qualify?
Private sector. Affected by Obamacare.

Please read this over and over until you finally understand what is going on, and what Trump is proposing.
That's not what he's saying. "You can't have a...a small percentage of our economy, because they're down and out, have absolutely no protection so they end up dying from, you know, what you could have a simple procedure or even a pill. You can't do that." He's talking about comprehensive healthcare for those who can't afford it. And he's talking about "We're going to work with our hospitals. We're going to work with our doctors." So if the government is going to do the negotiating then how can that be private insurance and not government run? How is that not single payer and how is that better than Obamacare?

The underlying and overwhelmingly health system Trump proposes is going to be private enterprise. However, Trump believes he’s going to be much more innovative than the usual politicians to help out people at the margins or need catastrophic care.
Who here has Tricare here? Many do and that’s an existing government funded health system. However, the underlying health system that Tricare partially relies on are private businesses.

That is true.
However, if you will notice, all the pro-immigration fools NEVER say a word about the impact of immigration on medical services. The United States allows over a million LEGAL immigrants per year, not counting the illegals. There is NO system that can be set up that can handle that influx. The ones who really want single payer are the immigration hawks. They want to ration health care.

This is the mentality driving the ones who are planning our future. They want to create a path for more immigration until the United States is only a distant memory.

Combine it with Trump’s plan to get jobs. More people working means less uninsured not more.
I’d be okay with government going after wages after the indigent care is provided.
In any event, my guess is that Trump’s fan would be a lot more efficient to administer.
There are only two options.
You don’t have money or assets and qualify.
You do have money or assets and don’t qualify
