RUSH LIMBAUGH: Rubio Is Not an Establishment Moderate

TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have to say one thing, one more thing, one more time. I do not like -- and I've got a Reuters story: "Marco Rubio Emerges Champion of Battered Republican Establishment." Another Reuters story, headline: "Republican Cruz Calls Iowa Win a Victory for Conservative Grassroots." I do not like, speaking for myself, I don't like this idea that Marco Rubio is all of a sudden being labeled as an establishment candidate.

I know that Rubio's got the baggage of that Gang of Eight bill and I know that in many people's minds he's got the baggage of wanting to grant the current number of illegals citizenship. I understand that. But Marco Rubio is no moderate Republican centrist. I could sit here like anybody else could and try to make explanations for you for why he did the Gang of Eight. I'm not even gonna try to put words into his mouth. I don't want to be seen as making excuses. I'm just telling you, I don't see Marco Rubio as anything other than a legitimate, full-throated conservative. Nobody's pure, and nobody is ever free of making mistakes.

I know Senator Rubio. It's like I was telling you last week: I know these people. I know that Senator Rubio in the Senate... In many ways, he agrees with Cruz about things. He's worn out with the Senate. The Senate... I heard this from Allen West when he left the House. I've heard, "The incumbents, that's all they care about is being reelected. You go there to make a difference and you run into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall." I don't think... You know, Rubio, I don't think he wants to stay there 30 years to break through the wall to get a committee chairmanship or whatever.

I just don't like this idea that all of a sudden we're gonna make Rubio the establishment bad guy, as though Rubio is no different than the McCains and the Bob Doles and the Romneys and the others that have come along and been nominated by the establishment. He just isn't. He has not been talked out of his conservatism. He does not abandon it. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody last night. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody. And even the media was dazzled by the fact that he did it without a teleprompter.

They continue to be dazzled by that. (chuckling) Of course, Barack Hussein O can't do anything without a teleprompter. I just don't want to... We had three genuine Reaganites triumph last night, and Rubio did better than a lot of people thought he was gonna do -- and to me, that is very important. It is crucially important for conservatism, for Reaganism, for the future of the Republican Party. I'm just not comfortable here sitting and watching somebody end up maybe being destroyed because of a characterization of being "establishment."

Yeah, the establishment may embrace him because they hate Cruz and they're not gonna embrace Trump, and their real preferences can't get any traction. (That would be Jeb and Kasich and Christie.) So they've gotta go with somebody. But I'm never gonna be one that sees Marco Rubio as the establishment, as we talk about it every day here on this program.

I must have missed it. What did Levin side with that you’re referring to?

He may not think he is but he’s already proven that he’ll sell out conservatism and work with our enemies to screw over the country. Once is enough.

What killed the amnesty was us throwing the weasel Eric Cantor out.
They had planned the vote for two days after his primary. They pulled back after we tossed Cantor.

He should just pay for advertising and stop trying to hide ads in what appears to be a random caller.

Worst part is that some, if not all, are fake kids.

Rubio is solid on every other issue.......... ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
This is the MOST IMPORTANT issue!!! Our nation is being taken over by people who DO NOT want to live the American way, they are here illegally and driving wages down, taking jobs, speaking everything BUT English, demanding we abide by their holidays, their flags, their prayer rugs and time for their prayers at the work !! Our schools have been overrun which WE pay for!!!

Both Cruz and Rubio are unveiled sitting senators.

Texas Senator (and possible 2016 presidential hopeful) Ted Cruz has formally given up his Canadian citizenship, about nine months after learning he had it.

Cruz intended to give up his Canadian citizenship, which was not a secret, after The Dallas Morning News first brought it to his attention, to the surprise of him and his family, last August.

Nothing against Canada, but Im an American by birth and as a U.S. senator, I believe I should be only an American, said Cruz, who was born in the Canadian province of Alberta, at the time.

http://time.com/2854513/ted-cruz-canadian-citizenship/

No one is going to vote for a Canadian citizen for President. Not going to happen. So he ran as a Senator as a Canadian citizen and it took the top reporters from The Dallas Morning News to let Cruz know? All of that seems just weird. He grew up in Canada.

Early life and family
Ted Cruz was born on December 22, 1970, at Foothills General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to parents Eleanor Elizabeth (Darragh) Wilson and Rafael Bienvenido Cruz.] At the time of his birth, Cruz's parents had lived in Calgary for three years and were working in the oil business as owners of a seismic-data processing firm for oil drilling. Cruz has said, i am m the son of two mathematicians/computer programmers. In 1974, his father left the family and moved to Texas.[ Later that same year, his parents reconciled and relocated to Houston.

Cruz's father was born in Cuba, and his grandfather was from the Canary Islands in Spain. His mother was born in Wilmington, Delaware and is three quarters of Irish descent and one quarter of Italian descent. His father left Cuba in 1957 to attend the University of Texas at Austin and obtained political asylum in the United States after his four-year student visa expired. Rafael Cruz earned Canadian citizenship in 1973 and ultimately became a Naturalization U.S. citizen in 2005. His mother earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Rice University in the 1950s. Eleanor and Rafael Cruz divorced in 1997.

Cruz had two older half-sisters from his father's previous marriage, Miriam Ceferina Cruz and Roxana Lourdes Cruz. Miriam died in 2011.

Would Cruz have won Texas if everyone knew he was a Canadian citizen. Am a Cruz fan but this is not going to go away no matter how much Levin, Limbaugh and Hannity carry Cruz's water.

Maybe Rush knows this and hates Donald Trump because Rush has admitted and stuck up for Megan Kelly time after time, which is why he is pushing Rubio.

Weird times.

Your scenarios are so preposterous that even this response is overkill.

Rubio was wrong on Amnesty but right on many other issues more or just as important to me. That's why I'm for Cruz.

I would have made Cruz my pick a long time ago, if it weren't for two issues:

I strongly disagree with his stance on the NSA -which, to borrow a popular term on this thread, positively reeks of opportunism.

and Of the three remaining viable Republican candidates Cruz is the one who does not have me convinced he can win.

Say, have you read Rubio's platform on border security?

Perhaps you should, just in case he wins the nomination.

In a two party election, any failure to vote for the least undesirable candidate is mathematically equivalent to a vote for the most undesirable candidate.

I love that. Limbaugh is a conservative tourist. Just passing through. I hope he reads this thread. Once I was gonna buy those kid books he hawks then I thought better of it. Sheesh he sounds like O’Riley, selling damn books all the time. He has more commercials than he talks. Lately I have come to love Mark Stein. Would love him to be permanently on for three hours.

Cruz is the one who does not have me convinced he can win.

This very common subjunctive expression makes no sense to me. In the end, the winner will have been destined to win and the loser(s) will never have had a chance.

Two Chronicles 20:15
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

Seabuiscuit was considered an unlikely winner because he "ran like an eggbeater." Providentially, he was unaware of that assessment and what it meant.

Those books on History are the best YOU WILL EVER READ!!!! And I will stand behind Rush Limbaugh. He is wise and 99% of the time he's right. If you don't like him, don't listen to him!

ALL THREE of the nations' top talk show hosts , yes conservative and hated by the left, are being trashed on FR this election. Rush, Hannity, and Mark Levin.

Makes me think a lot of our FReepers have moved to the left.

Guess you guys will need to find new hosts or shows.
Maybe you can get TRUMP to get his own show and then you can go listen to his station.

You can turn the dials off.

I am a Cruz supporter thank you very much. Trump is my second choice. Carson is my third and Hillary is my choice for prison. Limbaugh gagged me today kissing Rubio all over and calling him Reaganesque was particularly vomitous. I have Hillary and Bernie trying to make me vomit, I don’t need guys on our side doing it too. I have listened to Limbaugh since 1988. I am a fan, 24/7 subscriber but if he tries to sell me my own sell out senator Rubio as a conservative I won’t be a fan much longer. How long have you been listening?

Rush certainly doesn’t live like a Conservative in his private life, and he prefers to live in liberal enclaves like NYC and Palm Beach.

Platforms mean NOTHING anymore, the only thing that is consistently important are their donors dollars??? Rubio can have ANY platform he wants, but once they own him platforms are out the window !!!!
