Carson Camp: Cruz Apology Is Too Little, Too Late
msnbc.com ^ | February 2

Posted on 02/02/2016 9:59:01 PM PST by Helicondelta

Ted Cruz apologized to Dr. Ben Carson on Tuesday after the Texas senator's campaign was accused of trying to sabotage his opponent's chances in the Iowa caucuses.

Cruz's campaign blasted out a report Monday night that suggested Carson was going home to Florida instead of campaigning after the Iowa caucuses - something Cruz said Tuesday is "fair game" - but admitted that the campaign should have corrected that report when it became clear Carson wasn't dropping out of the race. He was just going home to get "fresh clothes."

I already responded to that and pinged you. Trump has used campaign cash to get politicians to seek eminent domain to benefit him. So Cruz’s claim is that “the cost of doing business” that Trump talks about means buying politicians to do stuff like that on your behalf - including the use of eminent domain to try to buy out people who don’t want to sell. And Trump has not denied any of that, as far as I know. That IS “the cost of doing business”. Trump’s argument is that a lot of people gain when eminent domain is used, and the property owner is compensated. Which are valid points too.

The Cruz ad was not accurate if it said that Trump got rich through eminent domain, because Trump was not successful in trying eminent domain. But Cruz’s point about “the cost of doing business” including some “deals” to get government favors that target normal people. That part is true.

The point of all of this is that people stink. All people stink. As I said before, God help us all!

Carson’s showing in the caucus was too little, too late.

Time to GTFO, Carson. You never had a chance and you never will.

Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A never compromised their values to help their profits. Selling out your values for money is prostitution, the very definition of immorality. The idea that money is an excuse to do immoral things is insanity. Did that excuse work for Judas?

We can assume his wife went to the one precinct that they believed was already a Carson stronghold.

Do YOU know what the citizenship requirements of Canada are? In terms of where you’re born or how long you’ve lived there? Why would someone who may have no memory of ever actually being there know?

now that I think about it, a couple of weeks ago, one of Carson’s volunteer staffers here in Iowa was killed in a car wreck,,slid off the highway on I80 by omaha, I think.

at that time, the carson camp announced that they were temporarily suspending his campaign to help the family, etc.

now, I may have missed it, but I dont recall any announcement from the carson camp that they had ended their suspension.....lots of people here in Iowa were still under the impression that he had “suspended his campaign”......and assumed that it was permanent.

just some food for thought.

Is Carson’s campaign in a state of suspended animation? Or of animated suspension?

I think Trump would say that “the cost of doing business” isn’t necessarily immoral. I think that may be what he was arguing by saying that everybody benefits from eminent domain (except the little guy who gets bought out maybe), because it creates jobs and revenue and/or needed infrastructure that benefits the whole society. And it’s true that Trump has employed a lot of people.

That whole thing of buying politicians, though - I can’t imagine that anybody can’t see how much the society as a whole pays because of that. And it’s troubling if he thinks that kind of quid pro quo should be accepted as “business as usual” that will continue as always if he is POTUS.

Trump has only one connection to an eminent domain case. It happened in Atlantic City. The city tried and failed to use eminent domain. Trump’s involvement consisted of offering the owner ever larger sums for her home. She turned them all down.

Where is the evidence that Trump did anything other than offer the woman vastly more for her house than the city offered?

Carson has no campaign events listed on his official campaign website. Why?

“Do YOU know what the citizenship requirements of Canada are?”

No. Why should I?

But if you are an American and do not have an American birth certificate, then wouldn’t you want to know why? Wouldn’t that give you reason to question?

Say, for instance, you are sixteen and you go get your driver’s license, and you are told that first you have to submit your birth certificate to show you are eligible. What did Ted submit? He had to submit something. You know he does not have an American birth certificate, or he would have released it long ago.

A four year old would definitely have memories of living in Canada, anyway.

Ask them. I’m asking for something I’ve never seen. Actual evidence that Trump did anything in this case other than offer the owner very large sums of money for her home.

Actual evidence.

Is their argument now that Cruz never knew he was born in Canada?

“When I as a kid, when I was four, we moved from Calgary back down to Houston; I grew up in Houston,” Cruz said. “And when I was a kid my mother told me, if I ever wanted, I could affirmatively choose to claim Canadian citizenship because I was born there.”

“Carson has no campaign events listed on his official campaign website. Why?”

How do you think I know? I was never a Carson supporter, but as a human being I can empathize with someone who has been screwed around in something that is huge in that person’s life. I know how I would feel if it were me.

It is ABSURD to claim that someone is dropping out of a race after he has invested enormous amounts of time, money, and effort in trying to achieve a victory, just PRIOR to the vote. Even if it were in his plans, candidates just do no do that. Carson truly was robbed of his votes. I think he should play the race card.

And, it would not occur to his opponents as a likely thing, unless their plan was to blatantly deceive, knowing the voters had no reason to even question the the lie.

I was responding to the claim made by the Cruz apologists. I personally don’t know myself. I have read a few times that he claims he did not know. Maybe people assume that because he neglected to tell anyone about it when he ran for the Senate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_Coking

The city wanted to use eminent domain to condemn Coking’s property and give it to Donald Trump for a limousine parking lot.

The city didn’t want to use that property for anything. They just wanted Trump to be able to have it.

Even though it is Wikipedia, and even though they are notoriously liberal, you trust them to give Trump a fair shake.

Whatever.

Does the Wiki article say anything about Trump bribing pols or otherwise interfering with the city’s efforts?
