Military Generals Want Women to Register for Draft [Fundamental Transformation Continues...]
Truth Revolt ^ | 2/3/2016 | Sarah Fisher

Posted on 02/03/2016 10:15:19 AM PST by Jan_Sobieski

Two Generals in the military have come forward to say that women should now have to register for the draft, as the Defense Department has opened up combat jobs to women. Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley agreed that the current policy, which requires only males register for the Selective Service System, should be changed after restrictions that barred women from trying out for combat jobs were lifted last year. "Every American who's physically qualified should register for the draft," said Neller at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday.

"I think that all eligible and qualified men and women should register for the draft," Milley added. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Army Acting Secretary Patrick Murphy didn't go quite as far, but did think the issue should be opened up for a national debate. "This needs to be looked at as part of a national debate, given the changed circumstances," said Mabus...

Women pushed to get in the military. Once in they complained of second class “citizenship” because promotions to high rank required combat experience. Now, the Dems have moved to open all positions, combat, special forces etc to women. If that is what it finally comes to, then women should be required to register for the draft just like men. This BS that you get the bennies without the responsibility/work has got to stop. Women want equality, then let the equality be in ALL areas.

The reality is that most women don't support that. It is the typically loud feminist minority that rammed this through sympathetic leftist ears in the Administration. The "they" you want to punish by requiring them to register for the draft are 18 year old girls who had nothing to do with that asinine decision.

Heck, most of the Women Marines I knew, even officers, knew that infantry should remain all-male. It is a few loudmouths who try to change that for their own ego/career aspirations.

What Republicans need to do is to America's 18 year old girls and their families what the left really has in store for them. If you want a real "War on Women", making them subject to the draft an involuntary placement in combat arms units is a pretty good start.

Thanks. I wish somebody would repeat them outside FR....

Someone needs to get this issue to Rush or another conservative talk show host to get publicity to the issue, and to start getting our candidates on record as to whether they actually support this insanity. That would likely kick start a national debate on it, and then, we'd have a chance of winning.

Right now, with nobody discussing it, the left is winning by default.

The Selective Service System was established by, of all people, President Carter.

In addition to providing the mechanism to draft citizens for military service it also allows for the drafting of medical personnel in the case of a national medical emergency.

I was appointed by George W. Bush to be a member of the Selective Service System and thus far have served 8 years of my 20 year term.

Let me get this straight...you fine with your 18 year old daughters being forced into military service with the potential of being in a Combat Arms position? In a combat zone?

“Women wanted equality, this is part of the deal.”

Funny. I don’t recall for asking for anything.

My response to women that protest over registering for Selective Service: does the acronym “KMA” mean anything to you?

Do you understand that the 18 year old girls who will be required to register for the draft had absolutely nothing to do with this? It is mostly the work of a bunch of unshaven bull-dykes long passed the age of service, and who didn't even serve voluntarily when they had the chance.

They hate the military. They hate the "macho" attitudes that have served as the bonds within combat units for millennia, and they want to destroy that. Forcing women into those units and requiring them to register for the draft is the best weapon they've come up with to accomplish that.

We have to fight this, not cynically accept it and let those bull-dyke women and metrosexual men have their way and destroy our military.

Let’s see the rank that Obama’s daughters will enter the service. Will it be an eagle or a star?

And this is a perfect example of why Political Correctness is destroying civilization.
No one in a position of authority has the stones to say what everyone knows: Men are better warriors, period end of story.

The SecNav and Administration are trying to bury the linkage between women in combat units and draft registration, and the two generals who spoke out are trying to ensure that it doesn't get buried.

This is exactly right. The politicians want to pander to loonie feminists without having to deal with the logical outcome of their decisions. Drafting women would annoy many more people than are supportive of this women in the infantry. They will get skewered by the Dads, Granddads, and most women, so they want to sweep it under the rug. Added women to the draft eligible citizens will end the nonsense of requiring the service to accommodate women in the ground gaining combat arms. It's their issue, let them wear it.

Right. It’s aggravating that the two generals involved are being painted as the “bad guys” by some. It is the exact opposite. They are trying to start a national debate on this that nobody else seems to want to have so that it doesn’t just happen by default.

You make great points...by the same token, the 18 YO men that had to register for the draft during Vietnam had nothing to do with that, either. Even worse, back then you had to be 21 to vote.

Those metrosexual men, aka Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon, and the women you mention have been cutting a swath of destruction through our military since Clinton.

Regrettably, it's going to take something really bad happening to open the average citizen's eyes.

I agree with that, but the rationale for including young men in draft registration was that we might actually need them. That's legitimate.

But rationale some are advancing here in support of having young women register is that it "gets back" at the insanity of their feminist elders. That's like kicking your dog because your boss made you angry.

Females had a chance to stand up and say that they didn’t want females in the Combat Arms.

The silence from females on this issue was deafening.

Females didn’t care, because they didn’t have to care. Only males have to worry about being involuntarily assigned to Combat Arms units containing females.

That’s why females care so little about the Defense Budget. They don’t see any benefit for them in an adequate Defense Budget. It is only men who can be forced to serve. Females don’t care if tanks are made out of paper mâché because they can’t be forced to ride in them.

Females had their opportunity to stand up and say that they didn’t want females in the Combat Arms, but they didn’t care enough to pay attention.

Welcome to the Infantry, ladies!

We can agree to disagree on the rationale, and not because I don't kick my dog.

If the goal is gender equality (of which I disagree, because women have far more power than they are willing to admit), so be it.

There are penalties for not registering, though I doubt they are stringently enforced. If you don't register, you can pretty much forget working for the federal government.
