Ron Paul: Cruz 'owned by Goldman Sachs'
The Hill ^

Posted on 02/05/2016 12:34:22 PM PST by springwater13

Former Rep. Ron Paul is lashing out at Ted Cruz, calling the GOP presidential contender too close to Wall Street.

"People are liking Cruz. They think he's for the free market, and he's owned by Goldman Sachs," the former Texas lawmaker said on Fox Business Network's "Varney & Company," according to Politico.

"I mean, he and [Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton] have more in common than we would have with either Cruz or [Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump] or any of them so I just don't think there is much picking," Paul added.

AH, yes, Hillary & Ted....getting big bucks form Goldman....

This is the little cabal that worries me since LAWYERS give 70% to DEMOCRATS.

Each cycle, contributions from this group of Lawyers favor Democrats by a significant margin. In the 2014 election cycle, the industry contributed over $120 million to federal political candidates and interests, 70 percent of which went to Democrats. https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.php?cycle=2016&ind=K01

Clinton, Hillary (D) $7,101,091 WHAT can I say??
Bush, Jeb (R) $1,311,555.....go Jeb! LOL
Harris, Kamala D (D-CA) $739,088
Schumer, Charles E (D-NY) $734,322
Cruz, Ted (R) $644,659 GOVERMENT LAWYER, that’s all he’s ever been.
Rubio, Marco (R) $576,185 At least he’s not running for his senate job again!

METHODOLOGY: The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more.
All donations took place during the 2015-2016 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission on Friday, October 16, 2015.

Trump is his own special interest which I find scarier than the other candidate’s donors.

“comprehensive U.S. immigration reform”

Congress is only permitted “an uniform rule of naturalization” under Article I, Section 8

Naturalizations to obtain votes are unconstitutional.

The “uniform rule” is to prevent the Mario Rubio type sellouts at election time.

I can’t believe Ron Paul would rather have NSA Bulk Data Collecting, Boots-on-th-ground-in-Syria war hawk Rubio.

Isn’t it though...they give to Hillary, LOTS to Jeb...in fact they give to ALL the open border candidates.

They must be disappointed in their 70k (wow!) investment in Cruz, as he's been consistently against amnesty since assuming office.

“Cruz, as he’s been consistently against amnesty since assuming office. “

Skeeter, you would have been the FIRST to pitch a fit over ANYONE else calling LEGALIZE THEM ALL AND SEND NONE BACK anything but AMNESTY. Cruz wants them legalized. Fact. You know this! THAT is amnesty! And don’t tell me what he said last week. If he can’t be consistent for a YEAR while in office he has no business in this game! Ted Cruz is a con man!

So you are saying they gave a lot to Trump? Or they already own Trump?

I paid very close attention to what Cruz said back when Rubio, Schemer, et al tried to push amnesty, those of us that did knew exactly what he was doing. Using soundbites from those floor debates out of context to try to paint Cruz as pro legalization is being dishonest.

ultra wealthy Jews tend to play both sides of the fence . It has gotten them in trouble , over & over , and then they wonder why it happens ?

Wait, didn't your hero, Donald Trump, brag about doing the same doing the SAME THING you are bashing the Jews for doing? He bragged about giving money to Democrats to improve his business. So why is it BAD when Jews do it, but GOOD when your hero Trump does it. Please explain.

In a statement to The Fact Checker, Schumer confirmed Cruz’s bill was viewed as a poison pill: “This was an attempt to kill the bill, and there was no doubt at the time that Senator Cruz knew it would do exactly that.”

It’s important to remember the political climate at the time. The bipartisan Gang of Eight and its coalition seemed poised to get the landmark reform bill passed through Congress, and the hard-liner rejectionist was out of favor, said Frank Sharry, executive director of the immigration-reform group America’s Voice. Sharry said he believed Cruz was “creating mischief and attempting to undermine the bill by peeling off Republican votes for the Gang of Eight bill,” but positioning himself to the right of Rubio while supporting immigration reform.

I've always given Trump credit for making 'hard line rejectionism' fashionable. It took a celebrity to do it. But you are right - NO ONE in DC was talking about 'sending em back' in 2013.

Cruz, Lee, and one or two others were as anti-illegal immigrant as was practically possible then. The worst Cruz can be accused of now would be having to exist in the same political environment as everyone else.
