I think we're being miss-directed by the word, "conservative"

I keep seeing the "Trump is not a conservative" statement all OVER the place and I don't think people really care ... at this point

Whether Trump is a conservative or not has nothing to do with MY fantasy of resurrecting Norman Rockwell and making America great again

If folks want to pre-emptively complain about Trump .... maybe they should be looking at the next family dynasty

Now THERE'S an argument you might sink your teeth into

But Trump a conservative ... or populist ... or (some have said) socialist ... ?

If he builds the wall and closes the immigration door to muslims ... he will have accomplished more than any president since Kennedy

“If he builds the wall and closes the immigration door to muslims ... he will have accomplished more than any president since Kennedy”

Precisely. No other candidate is as serious about this as Trump. It’s his top priority.

And if it doesn’t happen soon, nothing else is going to matter.

Most Americans are not THAT demanding of a strict definition of conservatism
If not, then the country is kaput. No “moral and religious people” in the majority as John Adams put it, no USA.

They do care, or you wouldn’t be seeing it. You and people like you are pushing your “fantasy” of what you think Trump is instead of looking at the reality of what he is.

And he is no conservative. He’s a big government Liberal.

Think realistically ... look at the last two or three generations of HS grads ...

How quickly could the idealism your words conjure be manifested ?

We have comparative seconds to make a decision

We will never be kaput doing something positive to save America from imploding

Trump is a pragmatic conservative. It’s all about winning the general, and he can do it. Cruz with his purist conservative ideals can’t.

I am thinking realistically. A nation that once stood for God can get into the position where it is fighting against God, and once that happens, it falls. That is the lesson of history.

Ever read Daniel 4:17?

Many Americans may not care, but conservatives do.

What good is a wall if the majority of the illegals are allowed to come back in in an expedited fashion?

What good is there in ending Obamacare if it is replaced by another massive government program?

What good is there in keeping a big government liberal out of office if the guy you put in has zero interest in small government at all?

Right or wrong, the Supreme Court controls our fate on many issues. With multiple vacancies pending, what good is keeping a Dem from filling them if the guy you put in ends up giving you the same type of judges?

What good is there in opposing affirmative action and then electing a guy who supports it?

If the Democrats and establishment Republicans and their policies are a problem for this country, what good is it to elect a guy who has pledged to make more deals with the worst of that lot?

Either you believe in something, or you don’t in my view. If conservatism isn’t important, then we can keep nominating moderates like Trump, McCain, and Romney. Sure, Trump will fight harder than those two ever did. But, if he believes the same things or is to the left of them on some issues, does it really matter?

Yes a wall is important. But what will it cost? Congress isn’t going to just give it to him, which means he needs to compromise with them. It means he needs to give the McConnells and Pelosis of the world something significant in return.

How much of what is important to you are you willing to sacrifice in return for a structure? Is letting say 7 or 8 million of the 11 million illegals back in a fair price? Is a permanent liberal majority on the Supreme Court a fair price? What about a permanent liberal majority in Congress thanks to those new citizens? Higher taxes? A assault weapon ban? What do you think he’ll have to give them in exchange for what he wants?

Oxymoronic. Pragmatism is not about conservatism, but power.

Yes, in certain sections, you have to have a wall, absolutely.

Enter the Donald, Take Two - 2011
How will the Trump 2012 presidential campaign explain the Trump 2000 presidential campaign?

"We must have universal healthcare," wrote Trump. "I'm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one. We should not hear so many stories of families ruined by healthcare expenses."

The goal of health care reform, wrote Trump, should be a system that looks a lot like Canada. "Doctors might be paid less than they are now, as is the case in Canada, but they would be able to treat more patients because of the reduction in their paperwork," he writes.

The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans. There are fewer medical lawsuits, less loss of labor to sickness, and lower costs to companies paying for the medical care of their employees. If the program were in place in Massachusetts in 1999 it would have reduced administrative costs by $2.5 million. We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing.

-snip-

In The America We Deserve, Trump proposed a one-time 14.25 percent tax on individuals and trusts "with a net worth of over $10 million." He predicted that it would raise $5.7 trillion, "which we would use to pay off the national debt" and pay for Social Security. (The first part of this seems quaint now.)

"By imposing a one-time 14.25 percent net-worth tax on the richest individuals and trusts," he explained, "we can put America on sound financial footing for the next century." Like basically every other Trump idea, this one came with a story of epiphany and self-sacrifice. "The plan would cost me $700 million personally in the short term, but it would be worth it.

I think laz is correct

We are beyond the crossroad

All the clever cliche's and such will not change a single mind

I prefer to put my faith in a man that has a history of accomplishing things

Not just accomplishing things .. but accomplishing BIG things

Our nation has been SO fractured, we are truly being held together by the hope of Trump

NO ONE is hoping for Cruz, of Rubio, or Carson, or .. whomever

Every other candidate is just that ... another candidate, albeit with slightly different variations of what Trump is proposing

Trump's unifying a LOT of Americans that ... just might have NEVER agreed on much of what we do if it/they had been presented to us by another candidate, another way

So, to sum it up, are you saying a vote for Trump is fighting against God?
