Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan's pointed attacks on Democrats who overturned his veto of expanded voting rights for felons appear to have tapped into a current of anger among some state residents, who are sending hate mail and making threatening phone calls to lawmakers who voted for the override.

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. (D-Calvert) read excerpts of letters his office has received since the Senate voted last week on the felon voting rights bill, which will allow felons to vote while they are on probation or parole.

"You need to check yourself, you moron," one letter said. "You are only selfish fools."

Because so many blacks are felons, the Democrats wanted more votes. The Democrat party is a criminal enterprise. Democrat are guilty of racketeering, extortion, conspiracy, and theft. They are also accessories to murder of the unborn. When they stand before God, the charges will be read, and they will be convicted.

Even here in Leftifornia, felons can only vote if they are NOT on probation or parole. But, in the end, as a convinced leftist state, the short memoried voters of Maryland will blithely vote Dimwitocrat in November.

Boo hoo. Look, the people of the state(s) are tired of having THEIR WILL overridden by elitists from either party.

One only need look at the current popularity of ANY of the non-establishment candidates from BOTH parties.

So the Demon Rat president of the Maryland Senate can cram it.

Maryland overall is over 30% black, and Baltimore is almost 70% black. Although blacks are only 12-13% of the population, they make up more than 60% of the US prison population, because blacks commit crime well in excess of their demographic numbers.

Doing the math, you can see why Maryland Democrats wanted the felon vote. They already have the dead vote, the illegal vote, and the fraudulent multiple vote.

Karmic justice would be for a high profile Democrat to be killed by one of the felons who have their voting rights restored by this bill.

Illegal voter fraud is not the real problem. The real problem is legal vote-buying. Democrats pass laws giving out freebies to people of color and get amply rewarded in return. Where’s my Obama phone! Where’s my Obamacare!

Does anyone find it strange that the left wants to restore voting rights to anyone convicted of any crime (after serving their time), but want to keep anyone on a terror watch list, or accused of domestic violence, or who has received mental illness treatment from exercising their second amendment rights? Which is more dangerous to the Republic - non-violent felons with firearms or felons with the vote?

Just a thought.

Why couldn’t Hogan round up even a few votes to prevent the override?

I had read that he supposedly was a surprisingly popular and effective Republican governor of a Blue state.

I guess not.

but, I see a fallacy in the effort.

I don’t think that in a felon the right to vote translates into actually summoning up the initiative to actually make the effort

This is true. Much over nothing. I’d bet a full 99% of convicts have never and will never vote.

"I don't think that in a felon the right to vote translates into actually summoning up the initiative to actually make the effort"

Don't worry! If the felons can't be bothered, the Democrat machine will cast their votes for them! Last election there were countless districts with at least 100% voter turnout and where 0% were cast for the Republican.

The only positive of this is that I was skeptical that just electing a Republican governor could make any difference in the death spiral of any blue state and I am even more confident now.

This might not make me “popular” but popularity has never been my goal.

If someone has “paid their penalty” for their crimes and they are deemed “safe” to release into the general population they should have all of their rights restored, including the right to vote and the right to own and carry firearms.

I can see withholding rights during a probationary period but not permanently.

Wait till a democrat president releases the rest of them from federal prison, and has the justice department sue to remove police from black and Muslim neighborhoods.
