Septuagenarian presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has been capitalizing on young people's lack of knowledge and life experience to sell them a bill of rotten goods.

Never let it be said that the public schools are failing at their primary task - transforming intelligent and curious children into slogan-chanting creatures of the state.

So, thank a teacher today!

If children are compelled to attend K-12 socialist-entitlement schools they will learn to be comfortable with socialism and government compulsion.

It only took one to three generations of government compelled K-12 socialist-entitlement schooling to give the nation Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. It's been worse with each generation after.

Please read my tag-line.

Personally, I think government teachers should be shunned.

From the article:

Why don't millennials know what socialism is? First, Democratic leaders, whom millennials tend to trust, don't seem to have any idea themselves.

So why might millennials have less negative visceral reaction to socialism? Partly because the Cold War has ended.

Millennials reached adulthood after the Cold War ended, however, and they don't remember hearing much about Soviet socialism. Neither have they learned much about it in school. Also, without the obvious association between socialism and foreign threat, they have less of a reason to accept arguments for why socialism is economically and politically restrictive. Millennials are also less religious than previous cohorts, so they are less sensitive to the concern that socialism replaces God with government.

Perhaps the most important reason millennials are less concerned about socialism is that they associate socialism with Scandinavia, not the Soviet Union. Modern socialism today appears to be a gentler, kinder version. For instance, countries like Denmark, Sweden, and Norway offer a far more generous social safety net with much higher taxes ... These countries actually are not socialist, but socialistic.

American youngsters are not only economically ill-informed, but also historically unread. A survey of recent college graduates, for example, finds vast majorities know very little about American government and history. For example, a third could not name a single right guaranteed by the First Amendment.

a few years ago I started encountering people on the net regularly who apparently had not learned that socialism doesn’t work, never has worked and never will work.

They would constantly point toward the nordic countries of Europe as examples that socialism can work.

But they are blind to many things on that point.

1st - socialism takes TIME to fail. It takes decades to run out of other peoples money, especially when governments are allowed to go into nearly limitless debt.

2nd - Nordic socialist countries spend nearly nothing on defense, because the economic burden of their defense is being shifted to the American tax payer. (Typical when you think about it, for a socialist). This shifting of the burden just makes the 1st point take longer.

3rd - Nordic socialist countries don’t have large populations of low IQ minorities. (But this is changing rapidly now) Now that word has spread around the low IQ world that an easy work free life is to be had in socialist nordic countries, the entire 3rd world is on the march to get the free stuff. This has the net effect of shrinking the 1st issue. And is making the inevitable collapse happen sooner.

I just heard yesterday that Bernie never earned his first paycheck until he was 40 years old.

If you want to know why worst-generation-ever loves the guy, there you go. He’s their inspiration... to do absolutely nothing.

Many of that “vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince” are here on FR and are vehement about doing it again with DJT.

Socialism, by definition, is the transitionary stage between a free market economy and totalitarian communism. It’s not intended to “work” as an economic system. It’s designed to necessitate the need for total state control.

A generation or two of public education.

Yes. Once again:
Free babysitting at a public school. You get what you pay for, now your kids have free cheese for brains.
Socialized education. It wasn't compulsory. Yet most American parents just had to have that second job, that bigger house, that second car, and those free psycho-nannies minding the kids.

I wouldn’t shun public school teachers - many of them, especially at the elementary level, are decent human beings.

I had several such during my twelve years in the system, and they were shining lights midst the deadwood, sycophants and sociopaths on staff.

Given current circumstances, I am thankful that naive youngsters still become school-teachers.

Seriously. ;^)

You’ve penned a good assessment.
I also maintain that it’s we conservative’s fault for not getting outside our echo chamber with effective messaging to provoke serious thinking about how liberal tax, spend and debt is killing everyone’s future.

RE: “Generations of communism taught in schools. Also have generations “used to” social security and medicare.

Most education is useless at the K-12 level, even in college for the majority, probably because they spend more time on communism and treating LGBTs nicely than the basics.

Cutting education funding dramatically will be the only way to get them to focus on the basics.

But most will not accept that because they see school as free day care. College being day care w/sex and alcohol (for most).

So most want more money for education just like they want more money for SS and medicare.

Since education is where the socialism/communism is being taught as good, by supporting its funding, you’re supporting the domestic enemies of the country.”

I think that there are so many of them staring frightening student loans in the face for educations they have received that are actually worthless. Can’t clear it with bankruptcy and it’s like Herpes - always there.

Bingo! The ones I know who have huge loans are just paying interest and waiting 20 years until the loans are wiped. They'll still have a huge tax bill after 20 years, but without decent jobs they can't pay much more than the interest right now anyhow

Millennials are clueless as to how a free economy works. They buy the line that all you need to do is tax the top 1% more and there will be free skittles for all.

They don’t have a clue that higher taxes lead to economic stagnation which means even less good jobs for them than are currently available.
