Ted Cruz fires back at Trump for lawsuit threat and name-calling

With the Republican primary in South Carolina just days away, Ted Cruz has stepped up his fight with Donald Trump, who is threatening to sue him unless he stops airing what the billionaire candidate calls "false ads" and retracts what he called a series of lies.

Cruz questioned both Trump's conservative credentials and whether he had the temperament to be president.

"The people of South Carolina want a consistent conservative they can trust," Cruz told reporters before his rally in Aiken.

Cruz, who is trying to weaken Trump's standing among South Carolina's social conservatives and evangelical Christians, also released a new television ad attacking Trump, showing footage of him praising Planned Parenthood and Hillary Clinton. It ends with the line, "South Carolina cannot trust Donald Trump."

Trump is challenging Cruz's eligibility to serve in the White House, calling him "the most dishonest guy I think I've ever met in politics."

"I think he's an unstable person," he said, later declaring: "He's nuts."

. . . Snip . . .

Cruz also blasted Trump's sister, a federal appellate judge, calling her a "radical pro-abortion extremist" who should not be considered for the Supreme Court vacancy.

Trump's sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, is a judge on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. Trump has said she would make a good justice, but Cruz said she would not be a good choice, citing an opinion she wrote in 2000 that held a New Jersey law banning late-term abortions placed an "undue burden" on a woman's constitutional right to have the procedure.

Cruz then pointed at Trump's apparent confusion during a Republican debate last year over what constituted the nuclear triad as an example of how the real estate mogul is unprepared to be president.

Trump communicates better than Cruz and will most likely prevail.

The problem with you Trumpies is that you think his history started this morning. Cruz is nearly pointing out the positions Donnie Boy has held most of his adult life and only adjusted when he got serious about a presidential run.

Nope. While Trump thought he could get Cruz to be his VP, things were all hunk-dory.

Trumpy got his feelings all hurt when Ted said no, and now Trump is showing his true colors.

The desperation is Trump getting squeezed by someone smarter than himself.

How come Trump’s flip-flops are off-limits for discussion when Romney’s flip-flops on abortion and Romneycare made supporting him virtually a zottable offense 4 years ago?

If you say so. I prefer candidates who can talk in complete sentences and don’t repeat themselves a half dozen times in the same sentence like someone who has early onset Alzheimer’s.

Very funny; I've only seen it five times today. I am still waiting for Echo4C to explain to me why a Trump lawsuit challenging Cruz's eligibility will mean the end of Trump's campaign. But any one of the rest of you are welcome to give me some schoolin’ as well.

Not directed at you, but between Trump sticking up for his sister and Cruz’s daughter being tired, this is nothing but monkeys flinging poo.

Ted can't quit. He's made too many promises to too many billionaires in the Republican Political Class. There's a LOT of money at stake on Ted's campaign. His globalist supporters like Goldman Sachs, Club for Growth, etc., etc., expect TPP, more "free trade" agreements like NAFTA (which were Heidi's specialty as adviser to GWB under Robert Zoellrick, pres of World Bank, then Goldman Sachs), more immigrants and more cheap labor and to make DAMN sure there's no wall or nor the flow of cheap labor impeded, and Silicon Valley and others who want unlimited STEM workers (which is why Cruz already proposed 500,000 ADDITIONAL H-1B visas; TPP opens our borders to workers from every signatory country with no limit. TPA, which Ted voted for, is to fast track, allowing these "free trade" agreements to be implemented unimpeded by US legislators or citizens.)

There's never been an election with so much money at stake---the entire existence of the Washington Political Class, its donors and lobbyists, the very trough of plunder from which the 1%, the crony capitalists, and the Uniparty feed from.

I admit I’ve never read an opinion written by nor have I ever seen one joined in by trump’s sister. Therefore I admit that I cannot personally judge nor opine regarding her views. It is pure speculation borne of hearsay on my part.

So Trump thinks it’s a good idea to threaten a top notch LAWYER with a lawsuite?

Well... Isn’t that special. In a very short bus kind of way...

Cruz is calling Trump's bluff

No, he isn't. Trump's bluff is to put up or shut up. Cruz "calling Trump's bluff" would be to come up with a coherent, scholarly argument explaining why he's eligible. Why doesn't he?

Here ya go, pay attention to how this works: Cruz's own daughter hates him:

You can't be serious. You speak for cruz's daughter? And you suggest that she hates her Dad because she was cranky?

I just love how you call and treat Cruz as the most worthless person on earth, but then get upset when you are reminded of the nice things Trump has said about Hillary and Bill, saying what a successful and qualified couple they are! Don’t ever remember Cruz overwhelming the Clinton’s with so much BS!
