Ted Cruz Super PAC President: We’ve Knocked on ‘More than 100,000 Doors’ in South Carolina
Breitbart ^ | 2/17/16 | Dan Reihl

Pollster and president of the Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

-aligned Super PAC “Keep the Promise,” Kellyanne Conway told Breitbart News Daily host Stephen K. Bannon on Sirius XM that her internal polls predict Trump will win the South Carolina primary on Saturday.

Conway said her PAC is seeing a tighter three-man race right now between Rubio, Cruz and Trump as questions have arisen over numerous South Carolina polls flying around.

“Trump wins, but not by the dramatic margins that he got in New Hampshire, not by the dramatic margins that some of these polls show,” she said. Cruz and then Rubio appear poised to take second and third respectively, according to Conway.

Conway also stressed the importance of the ground game and said her Super PAC has now knocked on more than 100,000 doors for Cruz in South Carolina. That doesn’t include what the campaign has done, she noted, since they cannot by law coordinate. While not disputing that Trump is the front-runner in S.C., Conway said she is curious to see what happens with Jeb Bush and some of the other candidates still in the back of the pack after the voting.

It’s proportional, but still why admit defeat?

Open primary states, such as NH and SC, should be last in a campaign year. Only Republicans in closed primaries should vote in the early primaries so that Democrats and phony “Independents” can’t influence the GOP nomination process.

Cruz supporters respect reality and don’t spend our energy deluding ourselves. I wish Selzer of DMR would analyze this primary.

Yes-—and I could be wrong-—but in SC you get delegates for every COUNTY you carry, plus for winning the state.

I wonder if Rush will tout this as much as he did the “internal” Jeb poll?

With two Democrats in contentious race having an open primary doesn’t make a difference. Regardless there shouldn’t be open primaries. It is just wrong.

It is very odd. Why do this? To me, best words would be to say it will be close, every vote matters etc...

Winner by Congressional District get that CDs delegates. Thus you could have an over all voter winner get fewer delegates if all their power is concentrated in 1 CD.

To make potential Trump voters think it's a lock so there's no need for them to go vote if he's going to win so easily.

This will continue until it boils down to a two or three person race. Trump is stuck at 30-35%, but as long as he can run against 4-5 other candidates he will keep winning. If it ever comes down to him vs. Cruz plus one he’s toast as far as winning. It is interesting the GOPe is being hoisted on its own petard. For years their candidate won because conservatives split their vote among 3-4 people. Same scenario benefiting Trump this year. Nothing more going on here. He is not the new face of the GOP, just a boorish, bully benefiting from a crowded field.
