Open primary states, such as NH and SC, should be last in a campaign year. Only Republicans in closed primaries should vote in the early primaries so that Democrats and phony “Independents” can’t influence the GOP nomination process.

What’s this? A concession speech before the primary even takes place?

This will continue until it boils down to a two or three person race. Trump is stuck at 30-35%, but as long as he can run against 4-5 other candidates he will keep winning. If it ever comes down to him vs. Cruz plus one he’s toast as far as winning. It is interesting the GOPe is being hoisted on its own petard. For years their candidate won because conservatives split their vote among 3-4 people. Same scenario benefiting Trump this year. Nothing more going on here. He is not the new face of the GOP, just a boorish, bully benefiting from a crowded field.

Trump's opponents are now reduced to re-arranging the silverware in the Titanic's galley just to get attention.

All their sham "press conferences", breathless publicity statements and cozy little town hall meetings have been rendered ineffective, robotic, boring, stuck in Nowheresville and, in general, useless.

Who's actually paying attention to them except the media trying to stir up fights and promote false hopes in vain attempts to get enhanced ratings?

All the while, Trump is leaving his opponents and the media in the dust far behind him.

And yet Trump leads 2:1 in SC.

Hmmm, not sure all the door-knocking is helping but I guess we will see.

In Nevada, I’ve only had two canvassers knock on my door so far: A Rand Paul supporter and a Bernie supporter.

Somehow the original headline got changed. It was his PAC stating Trump would win South Carolina. Why the change from the true headline?

The fact that they’re not predicting victory for Cruz should speak volumes. Trump may not win SC by the landslide margin he won NH but still, a win is a win.

Another advantage of living out in the country: my door didn’t get knocked on. Some of my neighbors have driveways that are 1/2 mile long. That’s a lot of walking just to knock on one door.

Now, if I could just figure a way to disable robo calls.

I have been keeping a running average of four major polls since September, each week or two.

This time I have added the actual Primary votes in because those are the ones that count. So what you have is the average numbers between the four latest major polls and the two actual votes to date, IA and NH. I will add the other primaries in as they come.

This is what that average produces this wee as of today, Wednesday, February 17, 2016:

A little erosion overall for Trump, but he is still maintaining a significant lead. Rubio is climbing...as is Kasich. Carson has fallen way off, Bush remains down low.

Conway also stressed the importance of the ground game and said her Super PAC has now knocked on more than 100,000 doors for Cruz in South Carolina.

Does this mean the Cruz campaign has annoyed more than 100,000 voters in SC?
