Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Republicans will have to "cave in" and allow a hearing and vote on an Obama nominee to the Supreme Court.
Reid, D-Nev., who was appearing at an event in Reno on Wednesday, said he believes Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., made "a terrible mistake," by signaling the Senate will not even take up a nomination.
"I first of all think that they're going to cave in," Reid said of McConnell. "I think the president's going to give us a nominee that's a good one and I think they're going to have to hold hearings and have a vote."
McConnell has remained silent since Saturday, when he issued a statement declaring a nominee to fill the seat vacated by the sudden death of Associate Justice Antonin Scalia should be decided by the next president and not Obama.
Democrats since then have mounted an attack on the GOP in an effort to pressure them to back down.
Reid told reporters in Reno that it would be "tough" for the GOP to block a nominee because historically it just doesn't happen much.

I've got to agree with Reid on this one.

Why not? He’s caved on everything else.

This is probably the only time I have ever agreed with Harry Reid. Now I need to go wash my mouth out with soap.

If he does, he’s decapitating his own party.

Where as Democrats blocking a nominee happens all the time?

That's like saying "the sun will rise tomorrow".
McConnell is probably composing his "excuse" for caving right now.

LOL! Republicans are SO WEAK that the democrats are calling their shots. They are laughing at GOP leadership. It’s like taking candy from a baby.
This is a stick in the eye. You’d think GOP leadership would be offended, and just to make a point, defy the prediction. But they are like Crack Whores! They can’t help themselves. They are predictable and weak. Lucy is again holding the football for Charlie Brown. 1..... 2...... 3..... here we go again.

Reid has been running the Senate now for how many years ? Plus he has continued to run it, while his party is in the minority.
He leaves office at the end of this year - it will be more difficult for him, but I am guessing he will CONTINUE to run the Senate from a rocking chair in Nevada somewhere.

I would forget all the hideous things that Mitch has done to his party and country if he’d just hold true to this.
