14,000 protesters just showed Wisconsin what a day without Latinos is like

Wisconsinites experienced a workday without the Latino community's participation Thursday, as thousands of Latinos descended onto the state's capitol to protest two bills they deem "anti-immigrant."

More than 14,000 people rallied in Madison, Wisconsin, for "Día sin Latinos e immigrants," or "Day without Latinos and immigrants," creating a scene reminiscent of the state's 2011 collective bargaining protests, packing the Capitol building's rotunda and filling the square outside.

None of the protesters turned in their EBT cards, their WIC certificates, their public assistance, their free Obamacare cards or their free housing vouchers.

I suspect that Wisconsin would recover very quickly if all the illegals left tomorrow.

A day without illegals would be much more instructive.

So 14,000 latinos without jobs just showed us how great the country would be without them.

They could really punish us and move back to Mexico.

For the benefit of those not familiar with Madison - you can ignore large crowd events that occur there. They are often demonstrative of nothing. See: Geraldine Ferraro drawing 80,000 the day after the 1984 Democratic convention, the large crowds that showed up to oppose Act 10, this event, or, my favorite, Bruce Springsteen drawing 70,000 to West Washington Avenue to help put John Kerry over the top (not.)

yup.

If illegals were so great to have, why do we not see the massive rallies in Mexico every day on the news demanding these people come back to Mexico to help fix all of Mexico’s problems?

And somehow, the nation managed to survive.

This “protest” seems like a big old backfire to me.

The illegals did one of these in Mexifornia some years back. It was wonderful! Freeways, schools, shopping malls, hospital ERs uncrowded. Crime down. Real Americans out & about, enjoying their lives. Every day needs to be a day w/o lawbreakers.

No more clogging every early morning Stop’n’Puke convenience store with eager workers looking for the next pickup truck? No more clogging the local county hospital with ‘first visit’ drop-an-anchor baby parade? No more clogging every emergency room where some guy fell off a roof job and broke his arm - no insurance? No more clogging our schools with anchor babies and forcing us to hire teachers to instruct them in Spanish so they can fulfill their dream and get mamito and papito Social Security? No more standing in line at Publix waiting on them to arrange all the damned WICs certificates? No more waiting for them to clog up the only cashier aisle at Walmart so they can prop up some cash for cigs and wine after they’ve had the full cart cleared on EBT?

A few years ago they tried the same thing here in CA. It was amazing! I got to work early because the freeways were so uncongested. My coworkers and I were standing around chatting over coffee, and hoping they would do it again the next day.
