Cynthia Dill: Forget iPhones, let’s require passcodes on guns (how the left "supports" the 2A)

Apple’s recent civil disobedience has the country engrossed in a conversation about the balance between privacy rights and security, but let’s not forget it wasn’t an iPhone that killed 14 people in San Bernardino last December; it was four guns, including two handguns and two assault rifles that had been unlawfully altered to be more powerful and deadly.

Strict NRA constructionists will argue it wasn’t the guns or stockpiles of ammunition or pipe bombs jerry-rigged to a remote control car that killed innocent county employees enjoying a holiday gathering; it was the two criminals, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, who bear responsibility.

But rights and responsibilities go arm in arm, so if in fact guns don’t commit crimes, people do, then guns don’t have rights either, including any right to privacy. An individual may have the right to bear arms, but a gun doesn’t have any more inherent rights than any other item of personal property, including a smartphone.

There is a special kind of slime in this world. Those people to whom fortune has given the gift of gab, some modicum of likeability and a special need to do anything and everything to fulfill their wildest liberal wet dreams with other peoples’ money or the cost of their freedom.

They are usually Democrats, but there are also some who like to call themselves Republicans but who are more daring and like the thrill of the big lie and the deceit and the satisfaction of pulling one over on their sheep constituents.

Maybe the author needs a passcode for her 1st amendment rights.

Which is to say give up her 1st Amendment rights, same as she expects others to do with their 2d Amendment rights. Good logic twist for the Maine-iac.

But rights and responsibilities go arm in arm

Notice she doesn't mention considering any restrictions on the religious rights of the terrorists. Instead she using a federal request for help in investigating a crime to justify a preemptive ability to track and limit other constitutional rights that she doesn't like.

What this country REALLY needs is a passcode put on the dumbass politicians. That will help shut them up.

“People have rights and responsibilities, and if you believe the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, then isn’t the only way to stop a bad guy from hacking a phone also to stop a good guy from hacking a phone?”
Is this really what passes for critical thinking and rhetoric out there these days? Apalling.

Maybe we need a DNA checker on guns in chiraq and baltimogadishu. A gun smart enough to know it us being handled by a black thug and won’t fire. Of course beating deaths will increase but could save some innocent bystanders.

Exactly! Experiments require proof of concept, then real world validation.

1: Design and provide Dill with a working prototype.
2: Put Dill, with her current skill set, in a hostile environment.
3: Popcorn.

Cynthia, guns don’t kill people, abortionists kill people. Over 58 million in the us since 1972.

Someone needs to modify the McD sign to two big “P”s and “Over 58 Million Butchered”.

If they “unlawfully” altered the Guns they can “unlawfully” alter the passcode mechanism.

BTW -I setup my own Passcodes, so WTH is this Moron talking about? The Guns weren’t stolen like an ATM Card where you don’t know the Passcode.
