Trumpism Corrupts
The Weekly Standard Magazine ^ | February 29, 2016 | Jonathan V. Last

...For the last eight months, the sophisticated view of Trump and Trumpism has gone something like this: Donald Trump may be a huckster, but he has done a service to the Republican party by bringing new, nontraditional voters into the tent. He has shown his fellow candidates that they can flatly reject the demands of political correctness and need not drop into turtle-guard whenever the New York Times takes a shot at them. And while Trump the man is not presidential material, Trumpism -- that is, the collection of populist and nationalist concerns that have become wrapped up in the man's campaign -- is potentially very helpful. Over the last 16 years, the Republican party has been largely ineffectual, both in power and in opposition. It has been hostage to a donor class that is almost completely at odds with Republican voters.

Trumpism, in other words, looked like a political movement that could -- and possibly even should -- be incorporated into the GOP.

There is some truth to much of this. But it turns out that Trumpism has corrosive effects, too. Witness how it has corrupted people in its orbit...

I wonder if we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; that this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; that this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth?

I mean, if he’s going to follow in his footsteps, he might as well say what he said.

It seems they miss that point entirely. Populism rules the day. This Constitution you speak of....nobody cares about it anymore, apparently. :(

Agree. This Trumpoonery-Buffoonery may get us a Republican nominee where some 60% say they will never vote for him Republicans included. This is an election for TWO branches of government, one of which can alter the scope and direction of this nation for all time. That being the case, most would trust Cruz any day of the week to make scores of lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary including as many as four US Supreme Court Justices. Trump simply cannot be trusted.

On the deportation of 12 million illegals, he barely speaks to this issue anymore. The answer is clear. He knows (even if his devotees don’t know) that identifying, locating; arresting, detaining, and feeding and sheltering 12 million illegals including women and children, in the face of certain court injunctions, and attempting to deport them with a fleet of ships, trains, buses, and planes to over 40 countries (some 40% of illegals are visa overstays) is a pipe dream.

Just as the Rats have unthinking masses support the like of Hillary, a congenital and proven liar, we have the same problem on our hands. But heck, we all have this thing called “evolution.”

Witness how it has corrupted people in its orbit...

One thing is clear, it's corrupted writers to write lies about him.

The most cursory glance at the article shows that.

I know...and I know it’s wrong to think this way, but I wonder why was it Scalia’s time, instead of someone on the side of evil?

Ugh...forgive me Lord for thinking that, but I just wish the evil would stop.

As soon as Trump is elected you will get a job, or a raise and most certainly a pony.

But you, altura, are going to get a bag of coal! LOL

“I’ve come to believe we are witnessing something more historic than Reagans first win.”

Me too...I’m split between Trump and Cruz, but I can’t help noticing all the ‘piling on’ of Donald Trump from all facets of the media.

Leads one to think that there are a lot of forces at play here, doing everything they can to make sure a Trump nomination never happens.

Dirty tricks and subterfuge all around...
But, it’s nice to see the Den establishment doing the same thing.

Misery loves company.

They just don’t get it.

Even the most underachieving, functional illiterate knows a salesman isn’t “just talking” with you until he stops trying to sell you the car.

As an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer, I "paint by the numbers" ...

The vote tally difference between Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio was 0.20 percent ... a minor difference ...

a "statistical tie" in the eyes of folks who work with numbers (such as engineers, navigators etc) ...

That being said, as a staunch Ted Cruz Florida campaigner, I'm nevertheless compelled to congratulate Rubio (whom I despise) for his mathematical second place South Carolina finish ...

All that being said, I'll also say that it's a "mathematical certainty" that Donald Trump ...

benefited by South Carolina's open primary where many (exact number unknown)

Code Pink, 9-11 Truther Lunatics, Abortion Mill Planned Parenthood supporters and Black Lives Matter "Community Organizers" voted for ...

The Donald.

And whether they openly admit it or not ...

EVERY Donald Trump supporter (with any intelligence) quietly knows that I speak "da truth" on this subject.

Nevertheless ... my "genuine" political battlefield congratulations to Donald Trump ...

for enlisting the Armies of Mordor to defeat "Reagan Conservatism" in South Carolina

As General George S. Patton, Jr. would opine ...

Victory is victory ...

=============================

Ted Cruz invested significant time (one year), money and organization in fighting to win South Carolina ...

I was personally invited to campaign there as a volunteer ...

Somehow, Ted Cruz came in third ... DEEPLY disappointing ... even though it's a statistical tie with Marco "Amnesty" Rubio ...

I would project tonight that Ted Cruz feels as badly as General Washington after one of his many Revolutionary War defeats ...

or as badly as General Eisenhower after the NAZIs kicked America's @ss at Kasserine Pass ...

Will Ted Cruz learn to effectively counter-punch to VICTORY like the U.S. Navy at the Battle of Midway ?

Ten Million still-fightin' and PRAYING Ted Cruz campaigners say "YES" !

Wonderfully ...ALL of America's Conservative Patriots have tasted VICTORY in South Carolina where the "unsinkable" U.S.S. Jeb Bush juggernaut ...

was SUNK with HEAVY ($ 100 million) losses ...

"Primary voters were “corrupted” by the false promises & complete cave of the GOP to the RATS."

And so they decided to go full bore Stupid, by buying into what the snake oil salesman is selling. Brilliant

You people ever heard the phrase Cut Your Nose Off To Spite Your Face?

Ah, name calling. That will win people over to ya. Talking down to people, that wins them over too.

If you did something weird like...I dunno be supportive of something instead of spewing vitriol like a RAT on FNC maybe you’d be a better advocate. As it is now, you just remind me of Cankles barking & coughing.

Go Trump!

Isn't it corroding you, EveningStar, to have to do this sort of thing every day for money? Even worse, to do it for free?

When others do a foolish thing, you should tell them it is a foolish thing. They can still continue to do it, but at least the truth is where it needs to be.

And I am supportive of something..I’m supportive of ABT...Anyone But Trump
