Cruz: Rubio had all the advantages ... and still lost
Politico ^ | 2/21/2016 | ELIZA COLLINS

Ted Cruz may have placed behind Marco Rubio in South Carolina but he's spinning the primary as a bigger loss for the Florida senator.

Rubio was "endorsed by a very popular governor of the state, very popular senator, very popular congressman, all the establishment circled their wagons around Marco and yet he still only came in second after his campaign promised everyone they were going to win the state," Cruz said on CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday.

Cruz was referring to endorsements that Rubio received from Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy.

Cruz added: "You know, frankly, if I'd had done that in Iowa - look, in Iowa we had the heavy hitters come behind our campaign. If we'd have come in second or third, you guys would have barbecued us for having all the big hitters behind us and not winning it."

Cruz has a point. I prefer him in spades over Rubio. Cruz lost SC to Rubio by tenths of percetages.

Phyrric victory for Rubio.

Beck and Dobson just might have cost Cruz more votes than he gained.

I don’t mind a candidate invoking God, even thought I’m not religious.

But in a race like this particular one, basing ones entire campaign on “Constitution” “God” “Constitution” “God” just ain’t gonna cut it.

Should he be the nominee, the Dems will paint him as another Jerry Fallwell wanting to turn the country into a Theocracy

Funny ..that’s what Robot said about Cruz ... the big question is , what does Levin have to say about Cruz’s loss ? How will he spin it now ?

I don’t like excuse making. But Cruz is right about one thing. Establishment pubs showed they intend to aggressively get behind Rubio. As much as we hate them, they are still a huge force to be reckoned with. Especially with Murdoch and Fox News running the propaganda war for them.

REALITY CHECK SC was a Cruz must-win because if he can/t win conservative SC, teeming w/ evangelicals, what state is he going to win? The upcoming SEC isn/t that different. Southern states are typically southern states.

IMHO, Cruz/s Ceaucescu Moment was when he brazenly responded to Donald/s cease and desist letter by saying he/d make sure the offensive ads would run even more frequently.

His mask slipped.....he showed then what a cocksure SOB he really is.

SC counties Map. Cruz lost every county, and did not get a single delegate.

=======================================

Still talking the big talk after his big loss. Yet, we know he/s full of dirty tricks.....and he/s in deep
w/ the Big Money Boys...so I/m pretty sure they/ll provide the money he needs....under the table.

Florida isn’t till middle of the month. But Teddy looks to get a Texas sized drubbing on the first. We’ll know soon enough. I figure all of them are in it till Florida.

It was such a joke to see both Rubio and Cruz try to pretend they had just won in South Carolina.. LOL

CRUZ/S new campaign slogan: a hero in the right time.

He does look rather dashing in his Mountie uniform.

He lost me with those two stunts in Iowa. I wanted him as Trump’s VP. No more. He flunked the trust factor. At this point, I see Ted almost as sleazy as Rubio.

Amen, amen and amen. Well said.

Predictably, the Cruzbot cowards have gone silent. They should have shown a bit of class when St. Rafael “ended the election” the night of the Iowa Caucus. But they didn’t, made asses out of themselves and are hiding now.

Too funny that Cruz is the only smart one of the "anti-establishment guys" who understands that you have to take Rubio OUT if he or Trump hopes to win the White House and beat the GOPe.

If EITHER of the "anti-establishment guys" go out first....Rubio WINS because the media fostered animosity between Cruz and Trump will almost guarantee a large portion of their supporters will either stay home.....or push Rubio over the top for "pay back".

Don't say you haven't noticed how many people here have gotten so mad that they've said they would NEVER VOTE for the "other" guy..............and they sure weren't talking about Rubio. LOL

Ted Cruz is a brave man and a good man; he should just not be running, at least not at this time.
