Washington (CNN) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell issued his most definitive statement on Tuesday: There will be no Supreme Court nominee confirmed in President Barack Obama's final year in office.
In a sharply worded statement on the Senate floor, McConnell bluntly warned the White House that the GOP-controlled Senate would not act on anyone he chooses to sit on the high court.
"Presidents have a right to nominate just as the Senate has its constitutional right to provide or withhold consent," McConnell said. "In this case, the Senate will withhold it."

I sincerely hope he has the balls to stand by this.
Spoken just like a GOP Senator the day before they cave.
I truly hope this isn’t one of Mitch’s “promises” to the base. Sorry, but I’m not willing to trust this lying POS yet; been kicked in the teeth way too many times!
Let’s hope it’s not another “definite” “read-my-lips” message for the Bush Sr.-like, equivocal GOP.
I don’t believe you, Mitch.
I want to believe, but...
Any bets on how long it will take Yertle to flip this pancake?
You and me and a whole lot of others here do too.
Thank you Mitch....
NOT to be trusted McConnell has way too many fairies livin’ in his tree.

Please delete the word “yet”
Mitch is just reacting to his hate mail. He will cave down the road, when he is promised enough to cave. See my tagline.
Good news. If I have to pick I would prefer a hillary nominee over an Obama nominee. Plus there is the outside possibility trump might win. We will see if he backs it up
I don’t believe him.
This is unbelievable. Could Mitch actually mean this?
Nothing is more important at this moment.
“In a sharply worded statement on the Senate floor”
Sharp? Sounds like he’s double-plus super serious...
Liar.
The Biden Rule.
Once that little gem surfaced, there was no way that the GOP Senate could act on an Obama nominee without more major damage to the awful relationship with Conservatives.
I see no other better choice!
