On "Morning Joe" Tuesday morning, host Mika Brzezinski threw out an interesting theory: Donald Trump and Marco Rubio are playing nice with one another — and savaging Ted Cruz — because a backroom deal has been cut between the two to form a ticket with Trump as the presidential nominee and the Florida senator as the second in command.
I don't think that deal has been cut. But Brzezinski's speculation did get me to thinking about whom Trump might pick as his vice president. (For those of you who think such speculation is premature, I say (1) it sort of is and (2) read this.)

The swing states in 2012 were Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Virginia, and Ohio. A total of 1,193,729 votes in select precincts across those five states swung the election. Virginia and Ohio would be nice prizes. So would taking New York from Clinton; it's Trump's home state and Clinton's carpet-bag.
So who helps Trump in Virginia and Ohio? Obviously, Kasich helps in Ohio, but at what price? Would Trump get Kasich's support regardless of being on a ticket? Would early Trump supporters see choosing Kasich as selling out the movement?
What if Trump were to bring back somebody like Scott Walker, who dropped out early enough to not be too tarnished and still has a reputation as a fighter in Wisconsin? Walker beat the teacher's unions and Trump wants to bring education control back to the states. Could Walker help in the midwest?
What it Trump were to name Allen West? West is military and would help in Florida and with veterans, and Trump wants to fix Veteran Administration. West might also finally break out as a role model for African-Americans who are finally ready to cross over to vote for Trump.
Who is strong on immigration? How about former Arizona governor Jan Brewer? She was tough on immigration in Arizona, supports the military, fought Obamacare, improved Arizona child protective services, is pro-life, supports the second amendment, and would challenge Clinton for the women's vote.

I was watching TV last night, and since I’m almost completely deaf I use the closed captioning to see what they are saying. It’s funny sometimes, like last night. I can tell when a human is typing in the words versus a speech recognition programmed computer. Last night when they had Rubio speaking, they caption read, “Mexico rub roe”, for Marco Rubio’s name!................................
No one Donald Trumps picks would change my mind about him, including the 0.00000001% chance that Trump picks Cruz. If Cruz accepted, the only change is I would be disappointed in Cruz knowing he will have to cut ribbons and attend funerals for that liberal, and make excuses for the Trump administration once The Donald sells out conservatives.

While Sessions would be an excellent political choice, he’s way too old if we are looking to put in a “president in training.” FWIW, it won’t be either Cruz or Rubio.
Much like Reagan picked Bush, I think Trump will pick Rubio.

Don’t underestimate the absolute HATRED that Floridians have for Marco Rubio!
No one and I mean, NO ONE, in my group of FL family and friends want anything else to do with Rubio since his flagrant betrayal after working hard to get him a Senate seat.
Picking Rubio would be a dumb move. Picking Rick Scott would be the same dumb move.
Trump needs to steer clear of FL politicians who have already burned bridges.

Trump will pick someone who has actually accomplished something in their life. This excludes the majority of the political class.
Cruz is too smart to hitch his wagon to the coming Trump presidential train wreck. He’ll be in a good position to sort through the wreckage and pick up the pieces.
