So far, Trump wins open primaries and Cruz wins closed … (Title Shortened)

There have been four closed elections: the Iowa caucus, the Nevada caucus, and Super Tuesday’s Oklahoma primary and Alaska caucus. Ted Cruz won three of those four closed elections.

So here’s where it potentially gets interesting. Although the media are looking forward to March 15, this Saturday (March 5) there are four Republican primaries/caucuses: Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Maine. All are closed.

The GOPe loved open primaries when they rigged the vote to save Thad Cochrane in Mississippi in 2012. I’m guessing they don’t like them so much now.

But the Dims have to be quaking with fear, too. They wanted their voters to stay inside the fence and vote for Hillary. This is not a case where they sent them into an open primary to sabotage conservatives. This is a case of the sheep escaping, in their eyes.

You’re also making my point there...

Iowa is an open state... without Trump’s Democrat crossovers.

Cruz win isn’t that close anymore.

The new meme from the Cruz crew.

They will toss it around until they convince themselves that no Trump win is legit and that Cruz will totally still win the nomination.

After the first one Cruz lose, they will move to a new one.

At that point, who else was really in the race besides Romney & Santorum?

They’re not selfish. They’re party guys doing what they want. Trump will still win a brokered convention. The only real problem with that is Hillary gets a free ride until after the convention while Trump will be bashed by his own party

RE:”I know some Dems up in MA including my Mother in Law and they have switched over to Trump because they like him better than Clinton and feel is will bring jobs back here as they are fed up of seeing lost jobs and illegals getting their way.”

Since MA Republicans are pretty liberal (ie Romney) its obvious that MA Dems are very liberal.

Also, she should have noticed that Hillary was NOT ON the GOP ballot yesterday. Wrong election,

Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Say what you want about the conservatism or lack thereof in those states. Those are states a Republican probably has to have to win an election. Can Cruz win there? I sincerely doubt it. Whether you want to admit it or not Ted Cruz would be easily defeated by Hillary in November because he has no appeal in those battleground states.

“Hillary vs. Cruz would be a slam dunk for her. All she has to do is paint him as a religious crazy who hates women,”

Every single talking head -except for those that work for him- openly admits Cruz would be easy pickens for Hillary. And painting Cruz ‘religious crazy’ doesn’t require much “paint”.

“Clearly those Dems jumping open primaries believe that Trump is way more liberal than the most recent positions that he is taking.”

Or they are patriots who love their country and understand they’ve been sold out by the establishment parties. I hear this from blue collar guys who are supporting trump. No different than Reagan democrats who voted in their best interest.

“Doesn’t that bode well for Trump’s ability to bring in cross over and independent votes?”

It does mean that, on that we can agree. It also means Trump wil have to run hard left in the general, because he has decimated the GOPe (who while RINOs still vote Republican) while also turning off the Cruz coalition (who are staunch conseervative constitutionalists).

Hence in practice rather than rhetoric you will get a nightmare, an autocratic NYC RINO. Already you have Krispy Kreme at his back.

You mean the issues that Donald promised the New York Times off the record were just a ruse to win the nomination.

- or -

The issues where Donald says ‘Planned Parenthood does good things,’ and repeats Code Pink talking points on the Middle East.

I’m very confident that once the country gets to know him they won’t like him just like I don’t like him now that I’ve heard more from him. In the abstract when he was slowing down congress I loved him too.

True, he basically paints himself as much for them. All the Dems have to do is go “hey guys, look at this nutcase freakshow!”

Trump would be a fantastic nominee for the Democrats.

After all he has been giving money to Democrats and supporting their programs for years.

Libs patriots???

Fat chance.

Having a bunch of MA libs decide the GOP primary is a disaster.

Is Hillary telling them to do this?

Agreed on that point. It will be interesting to see how hard the establishment will work for Rubio these next two weeks as well.

So basically Trump can win Reagan democrats over. Cruz can’t.

.....and has apparently told the New York Times his entire campaign against illegals is a scam.

Show ONE piece of credible documented evidence he said "scam" and didn't add things like "building the wall is not on the table for negotiation".

Because you infer "scam" from very limited and second/third hand sources does not make it so. You are entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts.

Trump will easily win Maine on SAT
can he be beaten in KS?
can he be beaten in MS on TUES?

he may sweep this next week, even tho events are closed.
And then MO NC ILL look to be in his column.

does the media decide that WISC on 4/5 is now the big event?

Trump will win ME, KY, and likely LA. Kansas I have no idea.

Cruz at best will win 1 of the 4.

Then you’ll need a new meme.

Cruz is just a brokered convention pawn at this point.
