I think she’s deluded enough to believe that Hitlerbeast would win in a 1v1 fight to Trump, but lose to Rube-o. That’s the only possible reason I can think of as to why she would say what she said.
Nancy Pelosi might want to change the subject away from Hillary being tried for treason or espionage...
She has nothing to worry about... the suckups in the press don’t want to write anything bad about Hillary. They don’t care if she caused the deaths of American intelligence people - those folks probably came from ‘flyover’ anyhow ... they don’t ‘count’ as real human beings... like elites in Washington.

And because given that scenario, trump runs in the national as something other than democrat or republican. AND HANDS the national election to the nightmare hillary clinton.
You have the wonderful scene of pelosi and romney working against trump and especially CRUZ-— to get hillary and obamaumaocare elected. This is HOW the establishment works.
Cruz and Trump need to work together-— NOW. And trump needs to partner up, if they are sincere.
IF however trump is really being manipulated by clinton— then it is working with pelosi and romney. Remember this.

They want Trump more than either Rubio or Cruz for the simple reason is that they believe if Trump is the nominee, people (meaning ideological conservatives) will stay home and it will be 2012 again.
If Rubio is the nominee this definitely will happen. The one they most fear is Cruz, but since he is in it for the long haul, they would prefer to run against Trump.
I like Cruz, but this is an epic failure on the rats part.
Pelosi and Reid have both gotten donations from Trump.

I’d go with Occam’s Razor: Just like everybody else in the elite circles, Pelosi believes Trump can’t really win and so wants the Republicans stuck with him. This is also an opportunity for her to talk trash about Republicans. In her mind, it’s a two-fer.
