NEW YORK, N.Y. -- New York voters strongly favor Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton in their parties' primaries, but no GOP presidential candidate would win the state in the general election, according to a new Siena College poll.

Millionaire businessman Trump stretched his lead among New York Republican voters to 27 percentage points, 45 percent to 18 percent over both Ohio Gov. John Kasich and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, with Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas finishing fourth, according to the poll.

Former Secretary of State Clinton would beat U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, 55 percent to 34 percent, with 10 percent undecided, if the Democratic primary were held today, according to the poll. Clinton's lead was unchanged from the results of a Siena poll conducted a month ago.

Clinton or Sanders would both beat every Republican candidate in a head-to-head contest in the general election, the poll showed. Sanders would beat all Republicans by 19 to 37 percentage points. Clinton would beat all Republicans by 7 to 25 percentage points, with Kasich giving her the toughest run.

Those with "New York values" give Cruz just 11% of the vote in NY. Dead last.

New York's primary is on April 19.

Well, Trump not doing much better in this poll. I thought it would be closer.

If this kind of stuff holds, Cruz would be the best bet for veep and solidify the mountain west.

The only thing I see as a Conservative NYer is that Trump until recently had some dems crossing over. I met many of people who were solid party people who hated the dem choices and were going for Trump. Lately they seem less enthusiastic because of the way Trump has been acting. Waiting to see where it all goes.

As VP we would lose with Cruz. He can’t get along with anyone in the Senate. Cruz would try to upstage Trump. Cruz might work with God and that is a maybe. We would have to check with Crazy Glenn Beck first.

Clinton leads Trump by 24 points. Kasich somehow narrows it to 7.

Very small sample with over 6% margin of error. Trump has a song to sing for this state. Of course, if he isn’t nominated he will never get the chance.

I live in NY. If the NY primary this year matters in determining who will be the Republican nominee it will be the first time.

Poll data here— very small sample, as mentioned

Poll was conducted February 28-March 3, 2016 by telephone calls conducted in English to 800 New York State registered voters, including 368 Democrats and 229 Republicans

What? Something is wrong. I thought Cruz has momentum. I heard that all day Saturday. Then Sunday gets third in PR and now 4th in New York? Hmmmmm. Somethings not going according to plan. Lol.

A New York State resident (me) says “Trump will absolutely win NY in the general election.” GAME OVER for Dems just for losing NY (29), and NJ (14), and PA (20), and OH (18), and VA (13), and FL (29) and others.

ps NY is NOT Hillary’s home state and she was just a carpetbagger Senator. Hillary is not loved in NY. Is Hillary “loved” anywhere? Who could love that witch.

She is a carpet bagger. She got the votes because she is a woman/former first lady - period.

Trump is very well liked in the conservative upstate regions.
