How Donald Trump is ruining Paul Ryan’s speakership

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan stepped in front of cameras Tuesday and delivered just the sort of high-minded, clear-eyed, aspirational message that has made him a Republican Party standard-bearer.

”This party does not prey on people’s prejudices; we appeal to their highest ideals,” he said. “We believe all people are created equal in the eyes of God and our government. This is fundamental, and if someone wants to be our nominee, they must understand this.”

Moments later, asked what if that nominee were in fact Donald Trump — who days before had balked at denouncing the Ku Klux Klan — he was forced to retreat from the moral high ground. ”I plan to support the nominee,” he said.

When he was drafted into the speaker’s chair four months ago, Ryan acknowledged the job would be difficult. But, thanks to Trump, it has become much worse than that. He has come to embody the party establishment’s existential conflict: deeply wary of Trump’s divisive antics but reluctant to reject him entirely.

Ryan’s attempts to sail above the presidential fray with an emphasis on big ideas and basic legislating have been undermined both by hard-line House conservatives and by an angry presidential front-runner who all but mocks the reverence for the party’s leading “ideas man.”

How precious, faggy and foamy. They would have to pay me a million a year to write this "concern trolling" crap. WHERE IS THE BARF ALERT!!!!!!

”This party does not prey on people’s prejudices; we appeal to their highest ideals,...

It does nothing of the sort. All it does is the kenyan's bidding.

To write a political oped in the Compost, one must have to be on drugs and missing treatment for bipolar disease that is ravaging what is left of their brain.

Rino Ryans sunny upbeat message is to cost Americans their jobs and then force them to train their lower paid foreign replacements.

”This party does not prey on people’s prejudices; we appeal to their highest ideals,”

They have broken out into the full song of outright 100% unabashed lying. This is evil and these men have no God.

There was a time when you knew exactly what was and wasn't in a democrat leader's heart by taking the opposite of what he said about himself and others as the truth inside.

Now the Republicans too ... or I see know ... it was always both of them.

I would like to see him primaried in his home district ...

I would rather see him pilloried in his home district. I could be there in two days with a basket of rotting vegetables, maybe a few rocks.

We just got a fund raiser letter from Ryan for his re-election bid. We do not live in his state. Can anyone tell us if he is being primaried? We would probably send that person some case if so.

“I would like to see him primaried in his home district,
as a lobbyist. then he could join the ranks of the unemployed , or get a job “

” A real job? Those are for the suckers.”

He is helping Paul Ryan. The Ryan/Trump theater distracts people from the fact Ryan isn’t acting as speaker or a conservative.
