To stop Trump, GOP establishment must rally around Cruz
Chicago Tribune ^ | 3/9/16 | John Kass

For grass-roots conservative Republicans — mocked by the Beltway's imperial punditry and lied to again and again by the GOP establishment — what could be sweeter than this?

They can watch the GOP elite tremble in fear and panic over the prospect of Donald Trump as their presidential candidate.

Or they can wait for those same Republican establishment lords to drop to their knees and begin that slow crawl, over the broken political corpse of Marco Rubio, to kiss the feet of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the constitutional conservative whom they hate.

Ahhh.

At times like this, I just want to enjoy a fine cigar, think of revenge as a dish best served cold and consider a great line from antiquity such as this one:

Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.

The GOP establishment boys are hopping mad now, mad as hatters, frantic for answers, even ridiculous answers. And the most ridiculous is the dream of propping up Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich until Mitt Romney can ride his milquetoast-colored steed and rescue them at their convention.

Rehash of previous article.

Not a single mention of the economy.

For low-information voters only.

Amen sister! Cruz exposed himself as a fraud and a member of Team Bush. He can drop the insurgent outsider act now.

Personally, the MSM has nothing to do with my preference for Trump over Cruz, it’s entirely based on Ted’s actions. I know some people in both camps will link to stories about such-and-such a Lib media talking head saying this-and-that about why we should vote for one candidate over another, but I ignore all that nonsense.

The GOPe is in a quandry - who do they dislike the most?

Trump or Cruz?

If they use Cruz to tak out Trump will they then turn around and shaft Cruz at the convention?

Only if they can.

They failed in propping up Roboto as the savior.

But have they given up on somehow screwing both Trump and Cruz and weaseling Kasich in as the nominee?

Or will they let their hate of conservatives and outsiders consume them to the point they openly come out in support of Hillary?

Too late.
They should have realized how much they were hated before they tried to foist Bush, Kasich, Rubio, et al, on us.
Now it is going to be Trump, unless they throw the GOP convention into chaoe and destroy what little credibility the GOP has left...

Cruz’s comments were probably written by some of the GOPe staffers recently hired to help his campaign. Cruz has sold out to the GOPe. Sad to see.

Ted Cruz is mad that so many “low information” voters cling to their guns and religion and anger.

Where have I heard that before?

Ted is mad a majority of the evangelicals in the South he was counting on did not support him and saw through his Harvard lawyer facade.

Nothing erodes a candidate’s base more than GOPe support this year. Look at the trail of bodies the GOPe has “rallied” behind.

You do realize this makes no sense right? Ted has a strong record of defending religious freedom and 2nd Amendment rights (unlike Trump, btw).

I agree, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for Ted to call Republicans who don’t vote for him stupid.

Ted has been worthless. He has never achieved anything on his own.

Guess Ted considers anyone that works in the private sector, runs their own business, creates private sector jobs, or does not need government support to run their life’s as low-information voters. Guess he considers high information voters like him would work for the government all their lives, push regulations to hamper small business, and be lawyers to parse the meaning of every word to lie skillfully.

Since Cruz has no accomplishments to run on, his rallying cry is “hey, I’m not Trump”. No thanks.

“The more they do to stop him the more people jump on board for him!!! “

I think you are absolutely right! I also think more and more people are seeing how phony and disingenuous Cruz is and falling away from his prison of lies and distortions.
