GOP mulls unity ticket: ‘This makes sense’
MSNBC ^ | 3/10 | Jane Timm

Conservatives seeking to derail Donald Trump are wondering: What if the contest weren’t one-on-one — what if it became two-on-one? In other words, what if rivals Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio teamed up and took on Trump together?

Enter the unity ticket: Rubio drops out of the race, and Cruz promises to make Rubio his running mate if Cruz becomes the GOP nominee. The pair then takes on Trump together, pooling supporters, donors, activists, and organizations.

It’s an out-there idea in an out-there, unpredictable election that proponents say would offer the establishment GOP a team to rally behind and give Trump a run for his money. Cruz, the argument goes, has earned the favor of the far-right conservative movement, while Rubio has the optimism, energy, and crossover appeal the GOP knows it needs to win a general election.

Cruz stabbed Trump supporters too. Beck wants to stab Trump. Seems to be a theme here.

They’re stupid.

Cruz can’t win in the South and Boobio can’t win his own home state.

GOP establishment is smoking crack.

I don’t think Cruz would run with Rubio.

“They actually play for the other team.”

It appears they have lots of ‘conservatives’ helping them.

Unity ticket would have to include the leader in delegates, Trump, unless the real goal is to elect Hillary.

...

Rubio is a slick ambitious liar who can be blackmailed, controlled, and bought by the establishment.

I don't think this would work. Am I alone?

No. It's stupid.

I am a Cruz guy but I really don’t like Rubio, I would vote Trump over Crubio any day.

Certainly Hillary has the D nomination process rigged! Certainly. BUT I am still betting that the rest of the D party machine bosses will find a way to toss Hillary under one of Huma Abedin’s Muslim Brotherhood Camel Trains.

(The D party bosses do not want to see the entire remainder of the D ticket go down the drain with Hillary....)

You’re right, but we will see... I am going on little more than just a hunch... but we will see.

Milt - where were all these people and all these ideas when Harry Reid ran the senate like Stalin suspending the rules, etc? All of a sudden these people seem to have some life in them but its just against someone on our side. We wouldn’t be in the state were in - but we are where we are now. Too bad they can get clever but only against our own side. Too late. Trump!

If you are not strong enough to win regardless of number of candidates, you probably are a weak general election candidate. Santorum could have won in 2012, if Romney got sick and dropped out. This woulda shoulda coulda stuff is ridiculous.

I think Trump/Cruz would work.

Probably, but as a Cruz supporter, I'd rather see him eventually on the Supreme Court if he's not topping the ticket.

On the 0.00001% chance they indict her, that could throw a monkey wrench into things. Hillary supporters will be burning things.
