Last night's "civil" GOP debate helped Trump
Individually, we get why Donald Trump's rivals mostly backed away from challenging the GOP frontrunner in last night's 12th -- and possibly final -- Republican debate. For Marco Rubio, who saw his fav/unfav drop eight points in the past month in the NBC/WSJ poll, the nicer debate allowed him to dial back from the nasty, personal insults that dominated the previous two gatherings. For Ted Cruz, the current status quo helps him get closer to his desired one-on-one matchup against Trump. And for John Kasich, he simply followed the same strategy he's been using throughout this race. But collectively, backing off from challenging Trump only helps the frontrunner. Don't get us wrong: Rubio took issue with Trump doubling down on his "Islam hates us" statement; Rubio and Cruz hit Trump over his support for normalization with Cuba; and Cruz again questioned Trump's Republican credentials. But none of Trump's rivals made the explicit case why the GOP frontrunner should be stopped. And folks, we are four days away from Trump having a firm grip on the Republican nomination by winning Florida and/or Ohio.

My caveat to the it will elect Hillary paradigm....
LARGE numbers of blue-collar Dems are apparently switching party affiliation to vote for Trump. 46,000 here in Pennsylvania.

EXACTLY! And he will put states like NY, OH, MI and NJ in play.
Sure. I think Trump will make inroads into the the blue collar heretofore Dem voting block. I even think he’s got a shot in NY and parts of New England.
Ditto!!!!! I was screaming at the computer... you fool, this is CUBA.. remember Elian Gonzales?????Communism!!
I did see him exercise more self control last night.
My vote will be cast for CRUZ in California and the jury is still out on whether or not I can cast a vote in November for him.In any event I agree with those who say " don't blame us when things go south, either Hillary becoming President, OR Trump fails as in Obama!
I have lived in three of those states, and I could easily see Trump winning all three.
Hillary has not been outed the way she will be by Trump in the general. There is a lot of “red meat” material floating out there that she has been getting an easy pass on. I see “swift boat” style Benghazi ads, Bill rape victim ads, having her obvious I-am-above-the-law behavior slammed in her face like never before.
They are already scraping the bottom of the barrel with Trump.
It’s time to start thinking about Cuba in terms of life after the Castros. Diplomacy is negotiation of terms, not dictation.
“I thought Trump totally failed on Israel & Cuba.”
So did anyone watching with perhaps the exception of the left wing of the Dem party.
Trump did what he needed to do, look presidential, he deflected a couple blows from Cruz. Stayed on message and hit it out of the park by not stooping to Cruzs level
Cruz, was trying to turn it back into a mud flinging contest but Trump wasnt biting. Cruz seems to just ramble. Says a lot but accomplished nothing

If by ‘turn it back into a mud flinging contest’ you mean discussing anything in detail you would be correct. Trump has shown himself incapable of discussing any issue beyond saying he would do a better job cutting a deal.
Trump is the king of generalities.
Doesn’t matter what’s said. Doesn’t matter the environment. They all help Trump. People have their minds made up and these debates are pointless.
I can’t wait to see Hillarys reaction when Trump looks her in the eyes at a debate and tells her she should be in jail instead of running for President.
If she pushes the NYTs interview, he can demand she release her speeches to Wall Street.
War on Women meme? Trump already took that one off the table.
Draft Dodger? She won’t dare go there.
Trump University? Clinton Foundation....money laundering criminal enterprise
“As usual, Trump was shallow and cliché ridden.
No substance only stump speech sloganizing
But there is no doubting the low infos devotion to the con artist so he will most likely get the nomination and we will get president Hillary.
So I already have the tagline ready.”
You have it backwards. The “low info” crowd is what’s kept the ruling elite cowards in power for as long as they have been. The truth is, Liberals and GOP Elite went too far. They looked down their noses too many times at the American people and their interests and the good of our country. They went so far out of the line that even the “low info”, “poorly educated” segment of the population could see what self-serving, perverted and evil devils they really are.
Trump not only pulled back the curtain they were hiding behind; he put them under the magnifying glass for all to see. To bad. What is seen cannot be unseen.
Have you heard ? Hillary is considering going to jail so she won’t have to deal with failing at another Election attempt.
Frankly, I’m surprised Trump exhibited the self-control that he did. Maybe he’s learning.
Trump also reminded him what is the patently obvious result of higher priced imported goods ... people will buy American ... which will create the demand for the factories and jobs to be brought back to the US.
If a Corola is 45% more costly than a Fusion, people will buy the Ford. After a few quarters of reduced profits ... the Japanese will come to the negotiating table.
Seems I heard something a couple of days ago that he had decided to tone it down a little. Looks like marco didn’t get the attack/ted step in to bring things under control memo for last nights ‘discussion’. Sure confused the msm assclowns who were looking for more ammo.
“Something to do with Trumps negatives, which have reached an historic 67%.”
Right. 67% of the base hates him... Which is why he’s polling 40+%. (Even higher when you consider that he’s got 12% of the ‘second choice’ vote)
Don’t forget, Sanders supporters despise Clinton. They’ll stay home before voting for her.
Clinton will have a Romney problem in this election.
yep
Actually that is leadership
When Trump builds a tower, he doesn’t personally design the electrical system or the fire alarm system, he hires qualified people to do that.
All Ted Cruz proved is that he is a good senator, because arguing the minute details is what being a senator is about.

That is what really happened. He really exposed himself on several exchanges both with Cruz and Rubio. It is sad that the Mode de politique (populists) followers of Trump just don’t pick up on there is no substance being offered. But don’t fotget the media spim is to push Trump and if you notice all the favorable publicity he getting even from Salon should be a signal.
When one finds themselves running back and forth defending their candidate. Then get forced to attempt to explain away their candidate’s foibles and faux fuyants with solutions they manufacture their cause is lost.
Very much afraid The US is going to be in for a sewer dregs election if Trump secures this nomination.
