Cruz: Trump Is Manipulating 'Low-Information' Voters

Ted Cruz accused Republican front-runner Donald Trump of taking advantage of 'angry, low-information voters.'

“Listen, Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice,” Cruz told “The Brody File” in an interview conducted Wednesday and published Thursday.

Cruz, who has racked up wins in Idaho, Maine and Kansas in the past week, said his campaign performs better among informed, engaged voters.

“When they inform themselves, they realize his record,” Cruz said. “He’s what they’re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me.”

The Texas senator acknowledged Trump has done well in Southeastern states — he’s won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. But Cruz said his campaign has done well in that pocket of the country, too, often coming in second to the New York billionaire but still picking up delegates.

“Now Donald has a harder problem in the West,” Cruz said. “It’s interesting. I mean, his location, he does well in the Southeast. He does well with a certain demographic of voter. Donald gave a press conference where he said, to quote him, ‘I love the poorly educated.’” Cruz suggested Trump is “taking advantage of his voters because” they’re angry. “I understand what they’re angry about, but, Donald, if you’re angry at the corruption of Washington, you don’t solve it by supporting someone who has been enmeshed in the Washington corruption for 40 years,” he said.

“Empty canvas” Obama accomplished many of his objectives. I hope Trump is as successful.

Trump voters aren’t dumb, disengaged, or “low information.” Seems to me they have all the information they need. (Quote from LS!)

Do you normally post articles from Politico or just when you are trolling?

I am a high information voters with two successful professional careers. It’s is clear to me that Trump is a huckster who draws in Demotrolls and low information voters.

Cruz graduated Harvard Law and clerked for William Rehnquist. He has held high level jobs in which he has demonstrated intelligence and a strong grasp of facts. Trump is a used car salesman.

More on Cruz and the Washington Elite Republican Oligarchy:

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

Spoken like a typical Harvard elitist. Beck cost Cruz but Cruz cost Cruz the most. He just does not come across as a “real” person. Just a lawyer.

Not just a lawyer, but an elite Harvard Law School Graduate!

How do Elite Harvard Law School grads feel about average American voters like us?

My ex=wife is as low information as it gets when it comes to politics. Campaign commercials are the extent of her research on candidates and she is voting Rubio.

This is true of all candidates.

Once again, utterly stupid pop psychology. I went to a Trump rally in Columbus, OH with 14,500 other people. I didn’t see any “anger and fear.” I saw rational, middle class people who were concerned their country was vanishing before their eyes and that Cruz and Rubio had to some degree helped put it there or been unable to stop it.

Benjamin Franklin summed up the best case for term limits more than two centuries ago: “In free governments, the rulers are the servants, and the PEOPLE their superiors . . . . For the former to return among the latter does not degrade, but promote them.”

“But when Trump calls his own voters poorly educated.”

You are intentionally making it up.

Trump referenced the exit poll, saying he leads in all categories: rich, poor, highly educated, not so educated.

You are Ted-lyin’ the truth.

But if cruz cannot reach the low info voter then we lose. Trump reaches them, and given how just one year ago the republican party said we need to go big tent then this is good. Big tent is almost by definition either social liberals or livs. I dont think the social libs are going for trump so maybe they always wanted the smart social libs. I want the livs if we have to make our tent.bigger

Maybe it’s not “never listen” to the GOPe bought guys in the media again: maybe it’s “not listen enough to make them any money.”

Look, to find out that people like Rush Limbaugh are kissing establishment butt and kicking their listeners in the face is a huge betrayal. To find out that the Uniparty stacks the deck on both sides of the nominations so they don’t care who wins (if they get Hillary and anyone but Trump, they win automatically, dem or rep doesn’t matter) is a huge paradigm shift.

If you support Cruz, you still think he is able to govern according to the Constitution. He is not. Clearly he is owned. You can see it. He will not have any independence to act the way you believe he will.

There is an oligarchy (not in our best interests) and to support Cruz today means you don’t see it.

Has it occurred to you that if Schlafly, Carson, Sessions and Palin like him and think well enough of him and his positions to endorse him, that the one with the problem is you?

Perhaps it is not that they have dirtied themselves but that you have dirtied yourself with your associations.

Generally when well respected people are marching in a direction opposite of yours, you are the one going in the wrong direction.
