Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump Is to Blame for Violence at His Rallies
NY Times ^ | 3/11/16 | Matt Flegenheimer

Posted on 03/12/2016 4:53:30 AM PST by jimbo123

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.

Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.

“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

So if you went to a BLM rally with a “ I love police “ sign, it would not be your fault for putting yourself in a precarious position? Does personal responsibility still exist?

” a whole series of stupid, irresponsible statements that encourage, incite, and condone violence”

Oddly enough, according to the left, everything that comes out of your mouth, for virtue of being on the right, does the same thing.

Now tell us how much “protection” are you buying by parroting their nonsense. You know, that saying stuff that someone doesn’t like, made retards do stupid things.

Thanks for giving cover and support to leftist thugs Mr Cruz.

Just more evidence that a POTUS Cruz would never be standing with us. We were duped. The man is a scheming careerist looking out for #1. Conservatives are dead to him.

The down side of The Trump Carnival is that all the nasty tweets, all the childish personal attacks, all the pornographic language & imagery, all the man-handling and threats of physical harm to protesters, and all the racist comments lends to a very polarized environment...violence is one outcome!

Proof positive that PC will rot your brain. Trump's rhetoric is no more inflammatory than that employed by the FF. The difference is that they didn't have a FSA to deal with...they wouldn't have dreamed of disrupting an opposition meeting. And that racist accusation...have you given that any thought at all, or is it simple regurgitation?

We're polarized, all right...we want to live our lives and support our families. The FSA believes they have the right to live effort free. When I object they call me racist and attempt to silence opposing voices through brown shirt tactics.

"Watch what you say or there will be violence!" Really? The left has been dealing with opposition through violence for years. There's conflict and violence because we've stood on our hind legs and said, "No more." It's entirely appropriate that Bill Ayers witnessed what he's built for years.

Pull your head out of your @ss.

Cruz supports BLM and thuggery.

That sure is taking his statement and twisting it into a lie. Give me the statement where he said HE SUPPORTS BLM and thuggery! You can't because he didn't say that at all.

I hold Trump himself accountable for this much, i.e., a whole series of stupid, irresponsible statements that encourage, incite, and condone violence: "I could shoot somebody in the middle of Fifth Avenue and not lose any voters." "I could murder someone and not lose any voters." "I'd like to punch that guy in the face." "I'll pay the legal bills if you go after that guy." And then, surprise, one of his rally-goers punches a protester in the face. Which, in turn, led to a predictable situation like last night. Trump is irresponsible with his mouth and shows bad judgment.

Leave it to a cuckservative to give his blessing to another "crosshairs" canard.

How does it feel to make common cause with the race-baiters, SJWs, and GOPe?

Lots of friends now?

So what would you like to do to someone beating up on your supporters? It ok for the protesters to throw punches? We are not allowed to defend ourselves?

The Trump rally-goer the other night who punched a protester in the face was NOT being beaten up, he was NOT defending himself. Instead, he was acting out the wish of his leader, Trump, who has said, "I'd like to punch that guy in the face!"

Trump is irresponsible with his mouth and shows bad judgment.

Or he's calculating that the PR he gets by unmasking the "peaceful protestors" will be good for his campaign.

That's exactly what he means when he applies "responsibility starts at the top" to this cluster***k.

Ted Cruz lost 200,000 followers on twitter since last night!

Excellent!

Many people realized last night that a man who won't defend our constitutional right to freely assemble also won't defend America when it too is under attack.

I now thoroughly detest this duplicitous coward.

I will probably vote Johnson Libertarian as a protest.

If the nom is stolen from Trump hopefully he will endorse some third party candidates. It will be amusing to see Majority Leader Schumer kicking untrusTed around the Senate.

I have never--and more importantly, the other Republican candidates have never--made a series of violence-condoning statements like Trump has made to his followers. That's the difference. It's a question of judgment--Trump's shoot-from-the-lip, irresponsible, bad judgment.

So the other 5 threads on this wasn’t enough in breaking news? Man this site has really gone to seed.

Good luck to the Trumpsters on taking on the left with a leftist leader who talks a big game but apparently cuts and runs at the first sign of trouble.

Ted has no idea they will do the same to him. These punks feel empowered now and will try to shut down republican meetings of all sorts.

Ted Cruz is an idiot for blaming Trump for this.

What’s next, Ted, are you going to apologize for making them angry??
