Merkel ally says Germany has changed course in refugee crisis

BERLIN (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel's government has done an about-turn on its refugee policy and has gradually shifted away from its welcoming culture, the leader of her Bavarian allies told a newspaper.

Merkel opened Germany's borders to refugees last summer and at that time Germans applauded newcomers arriving at the train station in Munich but, as the mood toward migrants has shifted, she has stressed that the number coming needs to be reduced.

"The federal government has completely changed its refugee policy, even if it does not admit that," Horst Seehofer, leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister party to Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU), told Bild am Sonntag.

"There has been a creeping withdrawal from the unconditional welcoming culture. Despite the images from the Greek-Macedonian border no German politician today says: 'The borders are open, let everyone come to Germany'," he added.

Some 1.1 million refugees came to Germany in 2015.

A senior member of the opposition Greens, Anton Hofreiter, also accused Merkel of changing tack, telling Rheinische Post newspaper the chancellor had "given up her humanitarian approach" by supporting a deal between the European Union and Turkey that aims to stop illegal migration flows to Europe.

Bavarian premier Seehofer has insisted the country should cap the number of refugees it accepts at 200,000 per year - a demand Merkel has rejected as she bets instead on a European solution to the crisis.

He said the fact the number of refugees coming to Germany had now fallen was solely due to other countries seeking to reduce the influx but that could not be the ultimate solution.

Still, it would mean that his suggested cap of 200,000 probably would not even be reached this year, he added.

He said the policy of waving people across the borders had given the impression that all people had to do was board a boat to Europe and they would end up in Germany, Austria or Sweden, adding: "We should have said earlier: 'That's not how it works'."................In the US all they have to do is walk across the border and they are welcome by the DemocRATS and RINOs

They are still deluded. The flow needs to be stopped and deportations need to begin.

Yeah, I would say a government committing ethnic war against their own populace is a change of course.

Japan is facing a similar demographic problem with declining population, yet they’re planning on relying upon robotics instead of bringing in millions of people from other countries. Their route appears to be the saner one.

Too little, too late...the Trojan Horse is already within the gates.

Tens of thousands of “Refugees” have “disappeared”.

Merkel opened the gates and now she is done for unless she can show her people, “resolve”.

The mostly male army of Allah is already swarming “fortress Europe” and mildly rampaging now only to up the volume in the coming months.

Merkel knows that her people do not want “them” only this time, it's not “judenraus” but Muslimraus...

That last election scared the beer out of her. Now, however, they have to deal with the aftermath of her foolishness as we do with ours.

That’s not what Merkel said. She just said this past week, after the elections where she got slaughtered, that there’s been no change in policy and there’s going to be no change. This guy’s just providing cover, trying to cool the outrage with a lie.

I think she just discovered how much it sucks trying in vain to put the toothpaste back in the tube. The train is already off the rails, all she can do now is watch it crash and burn is slow motion. What a pity.

For too long the electorates have been loathe to remove corrupt and inept politicians from office. That's why after seven years, we are STILL plagued with a foreign muslim commie that tramples on our rights. The people, starting with the Germans, must start standing up and demand that politicians act in THE INTERESTS of THE CITIZENS, or face the consequences and be gone!

Unless all Europeans start reproducing quickly or disincentivize welfare recipients from reproducing then all of Europe will fall to Islam in the next generation or two whether they import another Muslim or not. Demographically the Muslims have already won, unless something drastic happens to change course.

There is no “demographic problem” in Germany. That is a red herring.

It’s a bogus argument to say we don’t have enough people working to support the population we have, so we need to Increase our population. It’s amazing that people are buying that. On top of the ridiculousness of that, the “refugees” are not producers, but receivers of the welfare state.

Europe does not need these people. And that is an understatement.

Of the 1.1 mil 40% will automatically not qualify for asylum. Whether they can send them back is another story... 87% of all the migrants have arrived with no ID... on purpose. This makes sending them back to their country of origin very difficult... as those countries will protest, and state the German govt must prove via ID that they truly are citizens. The fact is, it’s very difficult to figure out where some of these people are from, as we have seen the terrorists all have multiple ID’s and have collected refugee money from various euro countries.
