Pope Francis: Rejecting Refugees Is Like Crucifying Jesus

(Daily Caller) Pope Francis went off script and turned political during his Palm Sunday homily, comparing nations who won’t accept refugees to the leaders who allowed the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Francis spoke for the Christian holiday in St. Peter’s Square Sunday, where he compared leaders indifferent to the fate of the flood of refugees migrating to Europe to the leaders who did not intervene to save Jesus, Reuters reports.

“I am thinking of so many other people, so many marginalized people, so many asylum seekers, so many refugees,” Francis said. “There are so many who don’t want to take responsibility for their destiny.”

Palm Sunday is the day Christians celebrate Jesus coming into the city of Jerusalem riding on a donkey, as prophesied in the Old Testament. It also marks one week before Jesus rose from the dead. The Gospels say the people of Jerusalem welcomed Jesus on Sunday with cheers in the streets, but by the end of the week he was crucified.

“Jesus also suffered on his own skin indifference, because no one wanted to take on the responsibility for his destiny,” Francis said. “And I am thinking of so many people, so many on the margins, so many refugees” for whom “many don’t want to assume responsibility for their destiny,”

Francis’s original homily stuck to more traditional Palm Sunday topics of Jesus, life and death, and the forgiveness of sins.

Appeared before Congress and the United Nations with the world's cameras running. Appeared with Obama at the White House. Addressed crowds of hundreds of thousands, on camera.

NEVER MENTIONED THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST ONCE.

Have these people stay in the grand cathedrals. Watch them tear the gold from the walls.

Conquering invaders are not “refugees.”

I don’t believe my salvation lies in “accepting Muslim refugees”, thank you.

Piss off, pope.

When you rip down your 50-foot+ walls at the Vatican and let those headchoppers in unscathed, we’ll talk.

Sad.

I read your post out loud to my wife and she yells “Pope Francis, tear down that wall!”. Too funny. And she’s Catholic.

The endless parade of biased, leftist political pronouncements out of Christian churches is not confined to the Pope. I went to the Episcopal church on Palm Sunday and their national conference of bishops had put out a policy statement to be read in all churches on Palm Sunday. It was a very thinly disguised and very nasty attack on Donald Trump and his supporters, using the allegory of Palm Sunday, with the usual gruel about tolerance, the lesser among us and the forces of fear. No wonder the Episcopalians are the fastest shrinking denomination in the US.

He ignores the obligation of a country taking care of its people. Sending them to another country is not a solution.

Roman Catholics need to demand a recount.

Sadly unless we own a pointy red hat, none of us get to vote.
