Ted Cruz's big week
CNN ^ | March 21, 2016 | Theodore Schleifer and Sunlen Serfaty

Posted on 03/21/2016 8:39:41 AM PDT by GodGunsGuts

(CNN)One year ago this week, Ted Cruz became the first of 17 candidates to argue that he could unite the Republican Party behind him.

Now, he has his a chance to prove it.

On the anniversary of a presidential launch that knew nothing of a man by the name of Donald Trump, contests and converts won of late will offer the clearest signal yet of whether he can indeed consolidate the anti-Trump movement and eventually defeat the billionaire front-runner.

Cruz is favored to win this Tuesday's caucuses in Utah and is hopeful of sweeping the state's 40 delegates by eclipsing the 50% threshold needed to take them all home. And while Cruz's campaign says Trump has a large lead in the early vote in winner-take-all Arizona, which also votes Tuesday, Cruz's aides are projecting confidence that they can gain on Trump by then...

“caucuses...I believe, however, that the delegates are real.”

I wondered if caucus delegates (called “its” for this post), WERE real so I went to one and took the blood pressure of a delegate “it” and it had a blood pressure reading and a pulse which is the heart beating. Sure enough, those “its” are real people. I wrote a scientific paper about this and it was published in the IT scientific magazine.

No, I did not do the above but if I had, the results would be the same. :o)

“Are the primaries TX, OK, and ID? I think KS is caucus.”

Texas and Oklahoma are primaries, not caucuses. Texas has picture ID required. Do not know about Oklahoma ID, however you can go to the Oklahoma Secretary of State website and find out if Oklahoma has ID of any kind required and do the same at the Kansas Secretary of State website.

Someone asked if you were going to contribute to FR and poster thought you would not. Since the last Freepathon I have made 10 posts (just counted them and think that is correct). Think this is the only political thread and only posted due to it being your thread. I have assigned a value of one cent to each of my posts and am keeping a record of how many I post. Perhaps you could use a system of assigning value - or not. :o)

“Trump’s supporter don’t count caucuses because Trump doesnt do well in them, so they pretend they don’t exist - they’re not “real” primaries.”

You guys dont count HUGE tracts of the nation, like the south, that Cruz didnt win. Nor key swing states where he came in third.

Now explain to us why that is? Or are those delegates not real?

“One year ago Ted Cruz was well liked here. Now the personality cult ...”

Because you guys are STILL too arrogant to come off that pathetic trope.

When you have Beck putting a little girl on stage at a Cruz rally that was on a fast for Ted, dont you dare sit here and talk about other people being in a cult.

No idea what you are going on about.

Trump has 200+ more delegates than Cruz, and that is objectively true.

I do dare, I have no doubt about it, none.

Beck, lol. Beck level psychosis is only slightly more goofy than the AVERAGE Trump lover’s detachment from reality, at least based on posts here, and Ann Coulter articles.

“Beck, lol. Beck level psychosis is only slightly more goofy than the AVERAGE Trump lover’s detachment from reality,”

And this was the BEST this Cruz cult member could come up with.

Going on a tangent.

What tangent? You mentioned Beck as if he’s the average Cruz supporter. LOL.

Thanks so much for your good attitude. I think some have poisoned the well here with cursing, making fun of people, and telling people to leave. The really wild thing may be that when this is all ended that we just might have what people said in the beginning, a Trump/Cruz ticket. Trump could do worse. It would bring in most of the Conservative and unify the party. And Kasich sure won’t do that!

“He also held Trump accountable for his statements about violence.”

He couched his statement attorney like...then applied the truly offensive part...where he justified the violence against innocent people and against Trump. You can couch it any way you want. To most, it was a cowardly betrayal of fellow Republicans who literally are suffering from the violence your boy toy incites. You go right ahead and call it garbage, we call it being a traitor. You want to side with the traitor, you go right ahead...but do not expect any respect by doing so. So screw you and your delusion of standards...

He is the most unsuccessful candidate to ever run for the presidency, yet, everytime Cruz loses, he makes a victory speech acting like HE won. He/s deluded his rabid followers (dwindling to a precious few) into thinking he is winning.

In his mind he always wins, b/c he/s got an arsenal of dirty tricks to steal victory. He barely won his own state, now he and ex-Gov Perry are refusing to slate Donald's Texas delegates.

He has no money----former donors say they are being bombarded w/ solicitations---as many as 10 emails a day. The FEC has warned Cruz to back off---b/c small donors have already exceeded the maximum donation by law.

The Goldman Sachs loan that fueled Cruz/s Senate race, is being investigated to determine whether it was properly collaterized.

Cruz wants us to forget HUGE tracts of the nation, like the south where he lost.....plus key swing states where he came in third.

Cruz bet his wad on the South ..... the only place a niche candidate like Cruz could conceivably win. He calculated that wins there would propel him to front-runner status.

That strategy was a total flop. But that did not bother Cruz.....he made a victory speech, anyway.

He got really rankled when his home state of Texas slapped him down and gave Donald a bunch of delegates. Now sore loser Cruz is colluding w/ ex-Gov Perry to dump Trump/s Texas delegates.

I live in CA. The Republican Party here is an empty vessel.

Keep believing.

PA, where the mills are idling, coal mines not doing so much, coal fired power plants closing, EPA attacking fraccing, too, may have been paying attention to Trump's comments in Iowa about keeping the EPA to (at a minimum) enforce the renewable fuels mandate (ethanol) to the fullest extent of the law.

In contrast to parts of upstate NY, they had a humming economy. One the EPA has fought tooth and nail.

>>>I so appreciate your encouragement and permission to believe in Cruz./s<<<

I have no idea what your response to my Post means.

I was referring to Carli! helping Cruz out in CA. She isn’t.

BTW - Former Cruzer here. Have been a fan of his for years, but I have serious doubts he can get to the promised land. I have friends in Austin that have known the Cruz Family since his days as the SG and they have always been complimentary of him.

Smartest guy in the room, but his Campaign isn’t reflecting it. Whoever gets the nod gets my Vote, period.

Except for Bush or Romney of course. LOL

I have nothing politically against Cruz other than a couple of relatively minor issues - until he recently turned to the GOPe.

I think they turned to him more than vice versa. Who else do they have to back?

They fought him in the Senate, they kept in minor candidates to split the non-Trump vote, and Cruz is still not eliminated. Donors have abandoned the National Republican machine in droves.

For once, the GOPe is grasping at anything and anyone to stay afloat.

All these years of wanting them in the position where they had to support or vote for the Conservative, instead of us holding our noses, and finally the tables are turned.

Sorry, but Cruz has a seriously mistaken agenda here. As I said earlier, there are two realistic possibilities, and neither has him coming out ahead. Either Trump wins outright, or there is a brokered convention. I guess Cruz figues he can win a brokered convention. However, if that happens, the GOPe will do what they always do - backstab. And either Ryan or Kasich will emerge as a damaged candidate who Hillary can defeat easily, as the crossover voters for Trump will cross right back again if the GOPe regains control of the nominee. And the GOPe would rather have Hillary as president than Trump. That is their level of derangement.

Frankly, it's sad that Cruz can't see how he is being used.
