(CNN)One year ago this week, Ted Cruz became the first of 17 candidates to argue that he could unite the Republican Party behind him.
Now, he has his a chance to prove it.
On the anniversary of a presidential launch that knew nothing of a man by the name of Donald Trump, contests and converts won of late will offer the clearest signal yet of whether he can indeed consolidate the anti-Trump movement and eventually defeat the billionaire front-runner.
Cruz is favored to win this Tuesday's caucuses in Utah and is hopeful of sweeping the state's 40 delegates by eclipsing the 50% threshold needed to take them all home. And while Cruz's campaign says Trump has a large lead in the early vote in winner-take-all Arizona, which also votes Tuesday, Cruz's aides are projecting confidence that they can gain on Trump by then...

Yes it would, and as I have been saying for a while now, I believe it will be California that pushes Ted Cruz over the top!
Ted Cruz 2016!!!
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
About 1 in a million.
Yessss!!!!!!
That would be globalisTed no space!!! BankrupTed, !!!!
Yes, I understand that. But is incumbent on both sides to try to persuade with ideas and principles and not resort to ankle-biting of the leader, or second in the mix.
Personally? I’ll take either one of the two and vote for either proudly if they win the nomination.
No wonder Ted is having problems...the northeast is primarily Catholic, not Baptist.
Ditto. Is that what they call a uniter? LOL!
I laughed when someone here wrote retarTED.
I live in CA. no way Cruz will win here!!! NO WAY!!!! Dreaming !!!!
I also think she would be good.
Seems to me that the GOPe is turning to Cruz. I do not believe he would change his principles or positions for them.
Wonder why Trump is meeting with GOPe today? Is he courting them?
I LOVE retarTed !!!! Still laughing THANK YOU!!! Hadn’t seen that one!!!
Multiple personality ted. He’s the Sybil of politics.
“Also, if it is a brokered convention,...”
No, dear GGG, it will be a “contested” convention, not a “brokered” one. Contested means there will be multiple rounds of votes taken by delegates until there is a winner with enough delegates. Brokered means the party officials will determine the winner, the delegates won’t. This will be a “contested” convention if no candidate has the required number of delegates coming into the convention.
The only question then will be if the Rat Trump supporters will stay home or vote for hillery in the general election. I think most Pub Trump supporters will support Cruz because he is a real conservative.
UGH.
You back?
I hope you pay your freight, but I’m sure you don’t.
Cruz was Bush operative for years. He has proudly taken money, endorsements, and service from the worst of the GOPe (Fiorina, Romney, Graham, Bush, to name a few), said he'd rather have Rubio than Trump...I could go on, but I think that alone is enough to show that whatever Cruz might have been in the past, he's not a principled conservative now.
Funny, it was less than a week ago that Ted Cruz went 0-6, losing races in five states and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Now tomorrow, Trump will likely expand his already large delegate lead over Cruz with a win in Arizona.
CNN's article is pure puffery.
Latest poll in CA shows Trump +10. Not looking good for Cruz. He might have a legit claim to momentum if he starts gaining on Trump’s delegate lead but those claims will ring hollow if he keeps falling further and further behind
I have no idea why Trump is meeting with the GOPe. Would love to be a fly on the wall for that meeting, I can think of all kinds of possible ways it could play out, some good, some bad and some hilarious.
