I listened for a short time this AM and decided not to ruin the rest of the day with Rush again pushing Cruz. His continued, very obvious, favoritism for Cruz leads me to believe that Rush may well have been instrumental in helping Cruz to make the presidential run. I have been wondering why a first term senator, in his mid forties, would think he was experienced to sit in the Oval Office, in control of the lives and well being of the citizens of the US. Cruz and wife have followed the trajectory of Obama and spouse to get where they are now. Same type of education, same serving their political bosses, same high level positions and opportunities for further advancement. There are more similarities, including young ages, relatively speaking for some of us, and rather chaotic family backgrounds. Then each, Cruz and Obama, are brought onto the political stage to run for senate and then, using that seat for the springboard to a national presidential run. Who and what greased the skids for either? We know much about Obama’s path, but that path for Cruz is very sketchy at this point. Rush either knows more than he is willing to talk about, or views the Cruz background as irrelevant for the purposes of this campaign. So much to consider and ponder!

Since Trump and Cruz will both push their delegates to keep rule 40 in place, only Trump or Cruz (with 2 more wins) can have their votes counted. I believe the chances of a contested convention and three rounds of voting are increasing. Cruz seems to have done a better job of organizing slates of delegates. Mr. Trump is making the same mistake many do during the primaries, and trusting the state GOP elites to select delegates loyal to him.

Thanks. Feel free to cut and paste my comment into a new thread if you want to expand the discussion. The upcoming convention would make a fantastic board game where all these scenarios could be played out.

As for Hillary and Sanders, it is amazing and coincidental that an open convention could happen on the Democrat side as well. Suppose that Hillary continues to be the horrible candidate she has proven herself to be. If she looks like a loser, the dems will want to get rid of her. They can't risk losing this election, too many people could go to jail. The Dem establishment always has a way to get rid of her anytime they want--indictment for the emails. Obama just has to let the DOJ do its job.

So, she gets indicted and Obama and Hillary have a come to Allah meeting. Hillary will be furious and threatening all sorts of retaliation. She knows where all the bodies are buried. Obama then plays his card--the pardon--and she will have to give in. He will point out that she can live rich and happy, and her daughter can have aspirations, or she can go to prison for a while and get photographed in an orange jumpsuit. She will go along.

Now with Hillary out of the picture, the superdelegates and Hillary have enough to stop Bernie. The dem party will never let Bernie be the candidate, he's too crazy even for them. So, they will come up with a savior at their convention, too, just like the Republicans. Biden probably, maybe Warren. Maybe McCaskill or Feinstein or Cuomo. Who knows? But it would be a lot of fun to watch.

This whole election cycle has been nothing if not entertaining. Some poster here keeps saying Best.Election.Ever, and in some ways, he's right. It is definitely like something out of a netflix series or a reality show.

Surveys like the Loma Linda study (Seventh Day Adventist vegetarians) have found that vegetarian diets result in much lower rates of heart and circulatory disease than the standard American diet. And usually lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol. More important to me is the possible connection between animal protein, hyperfiltration in the kidneys, and kidney disease. There’s a debate over the connection but I’ll err on the side of caution.

I agree with you. I think they know they would likely lose this election if they shut down Trump’s impressive win in the primaries even with all the media and party against him. That is a chance they are willing to take. From their perspective, they are better off losing and maintaining control of the party and the donor class than allowing Trump to win and remake the party.

The GOPe selected a lot of the delegates last year. These hacks are loyal to the GOPe first and foremost. Cruz is stuck with some of them despite his best efforts at organizing delegates.

It’s a fantastic battlefield. Use to be before his death on occasions you’d be able to see Shelby Foote walking around the battlefield. Signing autographs and explaining things about the battle to the visitors there.

This is true. There are also a minimum of 3 per state that are the GOP officials of that state. I was saying that Cruz did a better job than Trump of getting a higher percentage of people loyal to him. For example, here in Tennessee, Trump won the vote in many districts, but because there were not enough delegates for Trump on the ballot, they will be appointed by the Party. Since the convention is likely to go past the first round of voting, he may pay for the same mistake a lot of politicians have made over the years.

I’ve never been bit

I stuck my hand in a wild kitten box once

Pasture kittens maybe a month old

Man

It was like a nest of cottonmouths had gotten me

The girl who told me to grab one thought it was funny as hell

I agree, I think it is possible, but unlikely that the GOPe will give the nomination to Cruz as a last resort. Their first resort will be to give it to Ryan, and he will very very reluctantly accept, of course.
If Trump doesn’t have a majority going in, on the second ballot, he loses a bunch of delegates, but most of those don’t go to Cruz. Most are controlled by the GOPe. Rubio’s guys, Kasich’s guys, people planted by the GOPe in state conventions nationwide. These guys are evil but not dumb. Second ballot, Cruz goes from, say 750 to 850. Trump drops from 1170 to 1000. Kasich or some placeholder, gains the balance, to have maybe 600.

Now some kabuki theater comes into play. They have to make it appear that there is an impasse. Maybe another vote or two with no winner. Finally, a breakthrough, a compromise: Kasich will hand his delegates to Ryan, a solid conservative who everyone can support. Young, handsome, smart—he will save the party! Kasich will, reluctantly of course, go along, and Ryan will, reluctantly of course, accept.

Next vote, Cruz starts to lose delegates. Maybe Trump does, too. At this point, there is a danger that Cruz would join with Trump and defeat the GOPe plan. Can’t have that. So, the offer is made: Cruz at VP with Ryan on a unity ticket. It will be an offer Cruz can’t refuse. He will be assured that he gets the top of the ticket if Ryan loses, and if they win, he will be the heir apparent. He’ll do it. It’s announced, and magically, all the Rubio, Kasich and Cruz delegates and the unfaithful ones planted by the RNC, join together and we now get to 1237.

Trump walks and they lose of course, but that’s a story for another day.

Cruz gets the top slot this year only if somehow he manages to gain more than expected on the second and third ballots, and it looks like he might get there. Suppose, for example, he makes a deal with Kasich and Rubio for their delegates. Kasich is VP and Rubio gets to be ambassador to Pedophile Island. If the GOPe gets worried he might get there, they will jump in to work a deal that ensures he gets it. That, to me, is a slim possibility given how far Teddy will be from 1237 at the start, but it is a possibility.

That Teddy is taking the opportunity on this slim chance instead of working with Trump tells me all I need to know about Felito and his views on the establishment.
++

Man way over analyzed. Lets make it easy.

1. Trump is the only candidate the R’s have that can win FL., if the convention picks someone else, Hillary is Prez, guaranteed.

2. Cruz was done the night of the FL and OH results, trailing Trump by 600,000.

3. We lose the Senate and 20 house seats. GoPe doesn’t care they still get paid.

4. Dems reign eternal, demographics in 4 years will be so slanted in their favor, voting will be pointless.

It was gone in November of 2008.

I think it was gone in November of 2006, when Dubya caved and fired Rumsfeld. From that point on, he was a lame duck in every sense of the word. Made it easy for Pelosi and Reid...did he ever employ the veto pen? Not that I can recall.

I'll bet he drove Cheney crazy those last two years, though I don't think Cheney was healthy enough to lead a charge.

Wow, I never realized Rush was carrying amnesty water. Thanks for the historical explanation. He was either clueless or already bought and paid for then.

I now realize he was being controlled with Obama’s little eligibility problem, never spoke on the fact BCs or that our President doesn’t pass eVerify.

And now he is pushing Cruz who on paper wasn’t American until he was 16, then was sort of retroactively American. He was natural born Canadian.

Ridgebacks much like Dogos and Akitas and Chows have a rep of being wary

My Rott loves women

He’s like his daddy

I came out of store the other night and two cute 20 somethings are sorta snogging with him through half open window at convenience store

Had two men especially big swarthy or dark men approached him he woukda gone ape

But before I could tell them to watch him he’s all snuggie with them

And btw they were light skinned well off black girls

Male dogs just know girls are ok usually

But he will for sure get serious on big men he doesn’t know

My just turned 89 year old mentally mildly retarded aunt is in our care

He’s very protective of her

Puts himself between her and people and sleeps by her bed sometimes

They have an innate duty sense for the pack but he’s too submissive to me

Always cowers and slinks to my feet

I have a friend who trains military dogs on contract who’s afraid of Beckett but amazed how he bellies up to me instantly

You have an excellent point CH.Its one of the reasons we are here.
We have to provide the ammo for our candidates to use to destroy the communists that want to destroy America. No one or few see it as clearly as we do here. that’s why its so key to get a good candidate. Without that our motivation is a lot less.
