Will Trump Drop Out?
Wall Street Journal ^ | 04/06/2016 | James Taranto

Posted on 04/06/2016 11:02:36 AM PDT by Responsibility2nd

“[Donald] Trump’s second-place finish to Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) in Tuesday’s Wisconsin Republican primary may represent no ordinary setback,” write the Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty, Jose A. DelReal and Robert Costa. “It appears to be a pivot point—although it has yet to be seen whether the trajectory from here points downward or upward.”

~snip~

The last time he faced the prospect of venturing into hostile territory—when his rally in Chicago was overrun by left-wing disruptors—he ended up bugging out. If he fails to secure a majority of delegates, perhaps rather than endure defeat in Cleveland he will find a way to withdraw ungraciously before the convention.

there will be back room deals and dirty tricks played to keep Trump from being the nominee. Even IF he reaches that 1,237 number.

If I'm not mistaken, he could get more votes on a second ballot. It makes more sense that a few would go to the candidate with many, rather than many would go to some candidate with few.
They don't have unlimited time to decide, either. And the crowd outside will be very irritated if the guy with the popular vote advantage gets the shaft. Not to mention the disaffected voters who won't pull the lever. I don't see the benefit in the risk-benefit analysis.

I think suspending is not considered quitting. It means they are still a candidate but that they aren’t campaigning.

I think they have to drop out, quit.

It’s gonna be sort of silly season for a while as the time between major primaries lengthens. Let’s rehash the same issues, from the top boys and girls! For he’s a lunatic and liar. One more time!

Why is Wisconsin such a big loss for Trump? It is THE base for the GOPe...Ryan, Priebus and Walker, and a state whose businesses are addicted to illegal alien labor. They know damn well Ted Cruz won’t secure the border or deport illegals. Immigration was polled as the 5th biggest issue, with a whopping 7%. I am amazed Trump came within 20.

Cruz still needs over 80% to 90% of the remaining delegates to win the nomination outright, which just makes himself look foolish to stay in.

The only reason to stay in is to muddy up the convention for the GOP establishment. The other thing he is accomplishing by doing this is to divide the Republican Party. That could be one of the establishment’s goals as well as this would help Hillary in the general election but if that’s the goal, the GOP establishment, at the very least, keeps their place at the corrupt Washington DC trough.

Naaah. What you hear is the tediban screaming “TEDDY U AKHBAR!!”

But more to the point, the tediban and gop should pray that DT stays in. Because if he exits in the belief he was shafted out of the nomination, there won’t be much left of the gop in the end.

So? Trump still needs over 50%. That makes him look foolish also, right?

>>So why didn’t Cruz “drop out” after losing the ENTIRE SOUTH. Coming in third in Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and losing Michigan, AND Illinois.

Cruz can’t drop out. He’s the Face of God, the Messiah, the One, the Great Bird of the Galaxy, winner of the Heisman Trophy, the MasterduhBater. He invented the Pet Rock and gasoline. He makes planes fly and cows give milk.

He can’t just drop out. That’s how black holes are formed!

But, he will bend over and gladly spread em when the GOPe tells him that its time for them to choose someone else as the nominee. At that time, his work will be done.

No disrespect intended but that was a really dumb reply because of simple math:

Needing 50% of the delegates is far better than needing 80% to 90% of the delegates to win the nomination. Cruz is only making himself and now you look foolish by staying in.

Simple math, huh?

As long as you can see that Trump also does not have a lock on the delegate count is all I was trying to get you to see.

The percentages don’t matter. Sure, Ted has a harder job. But if anyone should quit it should be Trump. And the whole premise of this thread is - he will.

What you and this article are saying is just insane. The only reason for Cruz to stay in is to divide the Republican party and try to get this to a contested convention. These are goals of the left, the media, and most importantly, the corrupt GOPe in order to try to keep the same corrupt status quo in Washington DC.

Do you even realize, you are on that side of corruption? Some of you Cruz fans are not fans anymore but extreme fanatics because you can't see what the corrupt GOPe is doing here and so many of you are blind to it.

Calling for Trump to drop out when he has the best path to the nomination is just insane. At least try to take your blinders off and look at this objectively for crying out loud.
