Sen. Marco Rubio has fought to take the delegates he won to the Republican National Convention in July, leaving him in a position to be a power broker or even, if everything falls into place, to make another run at the top of the partys presidential ticket.
Under current rules, he doesnt qualify to be considered for the presidential nomination only Donald Trump has clearly met the threshold so far but if the party starts looking beyond the billionaire businessman, Mr. Rubio could be in line.
You can see absolutely how it could play out, said Chris Bravacos, who led Mr. Rubios operation in Pennsylvania. Whether that yields Gov. Kasich, or Marco Rubio, or someone who didnt run, I think that is an open question.
The senator from Florida and his aides arent saying what his goal is many of them declined to comment or didnt return messages left this week.
He suspended his campaign last month after a disastrous showing in his home states primary. But unlike most other campaigns, in which suspension effectively means an end, Mr. Rubio has insisted that his bid remains alive.
He sent letters informing party leaders in Alaska, Oklahoma and the District of Columbia that he did not intend to release any National Convention Delegates bound to me as a result of the 2015 delegate selection process that took place in your State.
It is my desire at this time that the delegates allocated to me by your rules remain bound to vote for me on at least the first nominating ballot at the National Convention, Mr. Rubio said.

Dondi Rubio (FL-FOAM PARTY) is too young, too short, too sweaty, too gay.
He’s got to win at least eight states to be nominated.
Hatch: Ryan could be drafted at convention

NOT going to happen.
Rubio is about the only candidate today that’s worse than Ted Cruze. Problem is, at his best, Rubio runs circles around Cruze with his rhetoric. Rubio is, in a work, likable, Cruze isn’t!
He has more delegates than Kasick!
Marco, or Ryan or Kasich, if they somehow are the choice, are going to lose far far worse than Romney did in 2012.
They will look on 2012 with envy and wish they had Romney’s numbers.
“Marco Rubio clings to delegates and hopes for Republican nomination”
He is delutional
I really do like Rubio. I do. But he can’t be a kingmaker here.
but by the time his bound delegates are unbound — it varies by state as to when this occurs — they are TOTALLY unbound. He cannot command them like chess pieces. Sure, they MIGHT do what he asks in voting for this or that other candidate, but they are free (by then) to do as they see fit.
Rubio and Kasich are both vying for the same position, Vice President. Both will go to the highest bidder. Cruz and Trump will both be willing to try to get their delegates in order to win the Presidency (assuming a 2nd ballot ends up taking place). However, when it comes to the Art of the Deal, one is a master at it, the other isn’t.The question will be, which one will be chosen for VP, Rubio or Kasich? And who will sell out to whom?
I understand Trump gets Kasich’s Ohio delegates if a Kasich drops out, by law (I could be wrong). If so, it seems Kasich would be the choice. I don’t like him, but he meets Trump’s requirement of somebody versed in navigating Congress, and he can’t do too much damage as VP. I don’t think it sets him up as the presumptive nominee in 2024 because of age,if nothing else.
I've never heard so much talk about brokered conventions. So obviously the fix is in against Trump.
The entire Party set of rules needs to be changed so that WE the voters choose who the nominee is.
As it stands, we elect people who will elect the party's nominee. We don't, they do.
If I don't vote for the nominee, why should I waste the time and gas to vote????
Yeah, I can see that happening.......really I can.......s
Oy vey!
Is it solely a Rubio decision or is it a decision of each state as to whether his delegates are re-assigned once Rubio left the race?
Why? Cruz is paving the way towards making him a possibility. If he ends up a successful spoiler against trump, they will all turn on him and do their best to get Ryan or Rubio on the final ticket. Just because the GOPe/RNC/MSM is obviously against Trump doesn't mean they support Cruz....
